I've had a lot of frustration trying to use saliva ferning because it always looks positive to me. However, I just got my first official positive OPK, so I compared my every-day saliva to today's.
Picture 1: Every-day (negative OPK) saliva:
Picture 2: Positive OPK saliva
Picture 3: My 2-year old niece's saliva (a definite negative for comparison) :)

The main difference I see is that the actual positive forms long lines, not just short little branches.

I hope this helps!

Ann89~ Do your slides look similar? I've always wondered if it magnifies it too much vs the little kits people get online.

Yep! that's what mine look like also.

I know this is digging up an old thread, but I just purchased one of these things and I'm wondering how much Saliva you put on the scope to check? As I have only seen spots/pebbles on mine and even then, its not to the extent they are on the demo photos that are on the packaging, its like, 10 dots total, spread out over the entire lens.
So I am not sure if i'm doing something wrong.
