Hi ladies,

So, I've used regular (acetone) nail polish remover about 3 times through this pregnancy. I'm always in a well-ventilated room and try not to actually get the remover on my skin, just on the nails.

Is this okay? Is the acetone dangerous in small amounts? I honestly just thought about it today. I'm going to buy some of the non-acetone remover from now on, but just wondering....

I've never heard of it being unsafe, I've used it during all my pregnancies. It's such a small amount, I'm sure it's absolutely fine :)

From what I have read every so often is fine but if you are the sort who changes your polish every week or more you have to worry about what is in the polish as well and it is safer to get a water based type and natural remover.

I've heard the same as pp. But I can't use nail polish or remover! The smell of both make me sick!! I brought a brand new polish cause I thought the old one was bad cause it smelt terrible but them the new one smelled the same! It turns my stomach and smells like gross feet! I was told that this smell thing I have going on in in the category withe aversions, which is a way for your body to let you know what is good and bad for your body.

I feel like it's okay c: You do have to worry about what's in the polish as well. I figure it's okay as long as I'm in a well ventilated area.

Believe it or not acetone is naturally occurring in our bodies and safe. It's the polish that I worry about.

Thanks for the responses, ladies! It sounds like everyone has different opinions/facts...which is about the same as what I find online! lol I think I will stick with the safe polish brands (such as OPI and Essie) and get a non-acetone remover just to be on the safe side! I do like to do my nails every 2-3 weeks. :)
