We like the name Elidi (meaning gift from the sun in greek) but my freinds freind (tenuous link i know) who happens to have conceived bang on the same time as us has a first daughter called Lydia. I'm not really her friend, more of an aquaintance....but are they too similar bearing in mind we might have to do some female bonding based on due dates?

Elidi
Lydia

Going off how i think they its pronounced then they sound nothing like eachother, besides that this other person is an acquaintance so i wouldn't give the similar name thing a second thought x

Totally fine, I dont think it's too similar at all. I also think it would be fine even if it was more similar, because she's just a friend, not like it's your best friend!

Totally different hun, I was in even more of a predicament when I announced my lo would be Oliver david, then my cousin who said she only had girls names said I could'nt have it because she was having Ollie David William. I stuck to my guns and had what I wanted. Yours sound nothing alike tho hun, and it's a beautiful name.

personally i think they are slightly different so i wouldn't worry, also i would say stick with what you want, as a name is for a life time, but you don't no if you will be friends with this person in 20 years time! x

I wouldnt class them as similar at all. I think the name you have chosed is very unusual and pretty . xx

if you definitely like it, I wouldn't let that keep you from using it

I am not sure of the names pronounciation , but I think it is either way quite different to Lydia.

I think they are quite different... and wouldn't worry about it at all! If i was having a Lydia, and my friend was having an Elidi... i wouldn't mind at all!

I think they are quite different so shouldn't be a problem.
