I've been TTC for quite a long time now and am more and more disenchanted with the service I get from the NHS. Dont get me wrong, the nurses are absolutely lovely every time I have to go, but do wonder whether I should have tried to save to go privately from the beginning.
After 4 months TTC with no periods I went to doctors, who did lots of tests (no problems found), and then said they couldnt do anything until 12 months of trying. Fine, I get that. When i went back at 12 months, they said it was 12 months from my first period after starting trying, so a further 5 months wait. I then got referred, and more waiting just to see a sepcialist, who then spent a whole 5 minutes with me and said I needed to have an HSG - another 2 month wait. And then another month to discuss the results with him.
Anyway, this has gone on a while and I have had 1 MC. However when i called to see my doctor the week after the MC because I was worried about more bleeding they didnt have any availablility for two weeks!
So we have now decided to go private, and I have got all of my patient notes. Now the interesting thing is that on one of them the specialist suggests I might have a Polyp but he wasnt very concerned about it. Well that's the first I've heard of it! And another thing, apparently I "declined" an internal exam when I was bleeding for 2 weeks. I specifically remember the GP saying "I could do an internal exam but it's probaby not worth it at this point" - well I'm hardly going to say "Oh please do stick a cold implement up my whatsit am I???" I just said agreed with them.
Sorry for the venting, I know a few nurses who work so hard and have so much patience, it is a job I couldnt do. I just feel I'm no further forward after this long. and I also appreciate that we even have an NHS, not everyone does.
Has anyone started off on the NHS and then gone private? did they do all the tests again?
