Just wanted some advice, been trying to conceive for nearly 10 years, not entiled to free IVF as OH as kids from prev relationship. We are considering having some of his sperm frozen.

If i was to say to my consultant i was now single but have a sperm donor would they help me. I know its naughty but the system sucks and I am now so desperate i think i will try anything.

Wow, they do free ivf in the UK? I sure wish that was the case here in the US! Hey, I would give it a try, I think it could work, sneaky girl you!

I know its not the right thing to do but hey I have paid all my tax and National Insurance all my life why should I suffer just because i live in the wrong post code area!

So it has to do with something where you live also? I thought it was just because your oh has kids? I think Im confused, sorry!

member of my family and OH weren't entitled to free IVF, but she played the single card and got it.

some PCTs will let you and some won't x do they check to see if you have a OH?

No. Just called my PCT and asked for the forms and guidelines for West Sussex re funding so will see what they say. Nervous now!

Then how will they know??? Unless they go under-cover :flasher: .... very much doubt it!!!

GOOD LUCK!

My consultant knows I have an OH though so surely they would know as wouldn't they be the ones to do it?

Hi

JUst to respond to your questions about the UK system! YEs we are supposedly entitled to between 1-3 free goes on IVF in the UK but it depends on your age, partner's history and also where you live because all local health authorities are different.

I suppose we are quite lucky but we have to jump through hoops to get in the system and its very uncertain.

Hope that helps.

I wouldn't advise doing this. I work in the legal field and it could actually be categorised as fraud if they were to find out that you had done it and I would more or less guarantee you would be liable for the entire cost of the IVF treatment. During the IVF inductions and the like you have to fill out numerous legal documents, one of which is known as Welfare of the Child. The minute you put your signature to something that isn't true they can 'have you' just like that, so to speak. Would you want to risk possible future treatment by doing this? It does suck, but I'd hate to see you punished for it.

well you could tell the consultant that you've split, but you still want a baby regardless.

and if something did come up, and they found out you were lying, couldn't you just say that you had split, but then got back together?

Hey hun

If you have put down anywhere that you are in a relationship then when it comes to doing all your forms and bits and pieces they will seriously look into it - they want your passport details, GP has to complete the necessary forms and also has to complete a questionnaire regarding whether you are mentally in a position to go forward with IVF. Plus, your OH will have to go through a ton of tests to be classed as a 'donor' and they will cross-reference.

I can't imagine how frustrating it is for you being refused a free go but the amount of trouble you could get into is immeasurable - they have things in place to stop this and it could damage your future treatment hun.

What about looking into egg-share? That way you can still have free IVF and help out someone else who needs fertility treatment?:hugs:

Egg share is one way, yes, but honestly, I cannot stress this enough. DO NOT do what you are suggesting. I can almost guarantee that you'd end up in court and you'd be forced to pay back the cost of treatment AND would probably be blacklisted for future treatment. They're not stupid. In all likelihood, someone will have tried this. The whole lot of forms you need to fill out are very important, like I said. You lie on those forms and you can kiss goodbye to treatment in the future.

Then how will they know??? Unless they go under-cover :flasher: .... very much doubt it!!!

GOOD LUCK!

Honestly? They do. If an application is made as a couple and turned down and then all of a sudden there is a change in circumstances they might well look into it.

It's obtaining treatment by deception. Very expensive treatment. Plus, like I explained to Krissi, the minute she signs something that is not true she is committing fraud. Fraud worth in the region of 4000 pounds, no less. I've seen clients go to prison for less.

Hi Krissi, well what an unfortunate situation! It seems so unfair that cos either your under the wrong PCT or OH has children from previous relationship that you shouldnot be entitled to free IVF on NHS. I must admit, I didn't realise that if OH had children then that would mean that you couldn't have?

Anyway, I think that as Curly Sue says-don't try this on! It is unfair etc although if you were to lie and say this they may well look into it and then the outcome for you would be soooooo stressful and yes you could actually end up being done for fraud, who knows what else could happen. I know it sounds ott but I the NHS andInland Revenue don't 'mess around' in these cases and it seems unfair cos there are soooo many corrupt people out there that get away with all sorts but still make sure you don't end up incriminating yourself!

Sorry to go, but as one of the other ladies says-how about egg sharing.I think you have to under 35 though. If you are maybe check this option out as it would be much cheaper or free(not sure how it works or the costs)
X:hug:

...and how healthy you are, if your BMI is under 30 and a whole host of other crap

Its so annoying as I meet all the other restrictions, been trying for over 3 years, diagnosed fertility problem, bmi in the right window and just because my OH has kids who his missus ran off with when they were babies and he didn't see until 2 years ago (they are now 23 and 21) we lose out, but i guess thats the way it is.. hey ho
