Need help with an excuse

Hi everyone, I need some ideas for an excuse to ask someone to babysit our child while we go for an early scan. The thing is, it's in the evening as we had to book a private scan so all the usual excuses of why we both need to go and our son can't aren't really going to work like hosp appt, bank appt etc. We cant bring him as we're scared of bad news like we had with our last pregnancy and we are not telling a soul we are pregnant yet for that same reason. All ideas welcome.

That was an idea we had but the ppl we can ask to have him are out themselves later in the night so kind of need an excuse that warrants leaving him for literally an hour. I know if we say the dinner thing they will say you sure leave it to the weekend so you can stay longer and have drinks etc
