Hi there, I'm Kay and have been trying to conceive baby no.1 for 5 years.

We have had various procedures such as,
Ultrasounds: clear
SA's: Above Average
Laparoscopy (investigation of severe abdominal pain): clear
Colonoscopy (investigation of severe abdominal pain): clear (fissure found but doesn't affect fertility)
Bloods to check for OV: Not OV every month.

Scheduled for IVF consultation in January 2010. Couldn't be further away :(

We are due to get :wedding: next year before the IVF finally begins.
We have 2 cats, an abysinnian and a moggy, aged 1 and 2.
We are hoping to move house before the end of the year.

And I am guilty of the (oh it will happen quickly, soon, soon) and then bought bits here and there for the baby with DP, to find we had a huge amount of stuff that would mean we only have a couple of things to buy when we actually are pregnant - reduced stress levels

Currently I have the flu which isn't fun for anyone :(

This site looks great and I'd thought it would be great to chat with people in a similar limbo stage.

Kay

Wishing you all the best for your IVF appointment - it must be difficult to have to wait that long. Hugs

Hi! I'm sorry your struggle has been so long :(
Welcome, there is lots of support here with lots of us struggling as well. I hope your stay isn't too long!

Hi Kay,

Welcome to BnB.

Hope your stay in LTTTC is a short one. Maybe all that organisation and your pending appointment will help along with a stress-free au naturale :bfp:

Big

Thanks for your warm and friendly comments.

We are coping relatively well, although I did have a break down period which left our relationship in tatters. But it does bring you closer and to think that it's only 6 months till we are back at the subfertility clinic, I suppose it's nothing compared to the 5 years thats past.

I have found the wedding as a great distraction, Recently bought my dress in the intent that I'm not putting everything on hold for this baby (although personally I would if I knew it would work!) But in a way I spent all that ££££s hoping that maybe I would get pregnant and it would be too small just as a luck factor - usually these things seem to happen.

But then I think again, through the period of time, you start to think oh this will work etc but it's just down to not being the right time for my body, as I'm really into scientific methods of life and the way things work.

I'm also considering selling my company to try and reduce stress levels as I've been told I have high blood pressure and need to calm down. Unsure about taking more staff on during this credit crisis incase sales go on the low side!

hey kay, ive been ttc for over 7 years now and havent managed to concieve once. ive had lots of tests done to me and 2 weeks ago i had a lap which showed i had endometriosis, and its quite severe and explains a few things for me. i tried 6 months of clomid and i didnt concieve on them although i was ovualting. so now ive had my endo removed im hoping things will start moving. af showed up for me yesterday but thats ok because i didnt try last month due to having lap done but my gyno has put me back on clomid for another 4 months and ill start taking them again today. have you tried clomid or anything? how come you have to wait for your ivf appointment that long? is it funded by the nhs or are you going private? if these 4 months of clomid dont work then im not going to waste anymore time and im going to go straight to ivf. its gunna have to be private too because dp has a daughter already and the nhs wont fund it for me.

I'm really sorry to hear you have endo as they told me they thought I definitely had it due to symptoms being severe and I'd even bought books etc how to cope with it! When I'd eventually got my lap and dye done, they told me that they couldn't find anything and that they had a really thorough look to find nothing wrong. So although I don't have it, I went through a long period thinking I did and it's soul destroying. At least you've had it removed so loads of dust and glue for you! Also the fact that they've given you clomid again and your all clear to go, means you really have a good shot at it huni - so get busy with DP :D

I've not had clomid yet, they said due to the length of time we've been trying that it would be better just to go to IVF although I think I'd really like to try the clomid first as it's less invasive. We're going through NHS at the moment as I don't pay my Nat Ins and tax for nothing!

I think we're just going to see how it goes, we're still in our twenties so we have time on our side luckily. I would say the most patronizing thing that someone could say to you would be "you've got plenty of time there's no rush" because when we women want a baby - we want it now! So after 5 years you really want to reply with your hand rather than speech - even when people are just trying to help.

The reason we have to wait so long is because when I had my lap and dye in January and everything came back with great chances, they said due to being under 26 we have to try for another year and if nothing happens then we'll go straight to IVF.

To make matters worse I found out my sister is pregnant about a month ago, on her 2nd cycle. So the devastation caused me to go a-wol and cause arguements of hell over nothing with my partner. She also asked me to go to her first ante-natal appt with her which I did and I couldn't help but feel so jealous and angry at the same time, along with joy throughout the hour long appt.

Thanks ladies,
Kay xxxxxx

i can totally sympatise with you about the sis being pregnant! im 22, my younger sister who is 20 has a 3 year old daughter and is 22 weeks pregnant with her 2nd daughter. my best friend is 5 days older than me and she has a 2 year old daughter and a 5 month old son and another friend of mine is 23 and has a 4 year old son! i too get very jelous over them because ive been trying longer than all of them! ive known from an early age that all ive ever wanted to be is a mum! i have a full time job, i actually earn my money and my sis and my 2 best friends can sit around on there ass's and have a baby whenever they decide that they need more income! my sis seemed to wait until her daughter was old enough to go to nursery, and she could finally get a job to get pregnant again so she didnt have to go back to work! even her partner doesnt work. it makes me really mad that people who dont deserve it get everything they want and have a proper easy life will people like us suffer every single day because we're having difficulties! its not fair. sorry im ranting lol, most of this probably wont make sense but ive got carried away! it makes me mad! lol. ohh well we all need 2 rant on once in a while to make us feel better!

I second that huni! It does frustrate me when you constantly see people around you pregnant, particularly the ones who were slightly disappointed that they were pregnant initially.

My sister has asked me if I will go shopping with her for maternity clothes and some baby things, which I was happy(well trying to force myself to be) to oblige. See, the last thing I want is my sister feeling sad that her sister can't enjoy the journey with her, because at the end of the day it's not her fault that I can't get pregnant and never have been!

My cousin also just had a baby, which filled me with jealousy as she has only been with her partner for a year, and he was also a careless "mistake", which is a sad thing to say about a baby when there's people like us out there!
:flower:
Sorry about the way you feel, it must be hard with that many people around you with kids.

We used to chart and use OPK's, CB fertility monitor etc till I'd just had enough, the doctor told me to throw them out because it was making me more stressed and I think DP was actually getting stressed with it too.

I'm not going to lie, I still have them along with pregnancy tests behind the loo in a box! But I no longer chart.

Once we have our baby eventually, I will be staying off work, or at least on a part-time basis. I'm not missing the experience of being a mother and making that bond grow the strongest it ever could!!
