Welcome to the thread
CherylC. I agree with the others, I've heard bleeding after sex is quite normal. I wouldn't know as the last couple of days I've stopped spotting and DH is getting nowhere near me!!!
It's good that you've got your first midwife appointment tomorrow so you can discuss it with them. I reckon they will offer you an early scan just to put your mind at ease. And 7 weeks plus 4 is a good time to get it done as baby will be much clearer and you should be able to see the heartbeat. Also, how on earth did you manage to get your appointment so early? My first appointment isn't until I'm 16 weeks plus 2! Don't know if you live in a different, more efficient (!), part of Glasgow? I'm in the south side.
I agree that unless you have any other symptoms then I'm sure everything is fine. The cervix is super sensitive during pregnancy so I'm sure you've just irritated it. Good luck with your appointment today, let us know how you get on. Oh, and can you ask your midwife if she's looking for any waifs or strays to give me a call!!!
Hello
Kare2012 and welcome! I'm sorry to hear that you're spotting too although I have to say, it's nice to meet someone who also had spotting before their BFP. I was starting to think I was a lone warrior on that front!
My spotting was always worse in the morning but I also had it all day and night, so I'm glad you at least get some relief. It's worse in the morning because the blood 'pools' overnight. So don't worry about that too much (I know, easier said than done!)
When I went to my doc with my BFP and spotting news, she referred me to the Early Pregnancy Unit. They called me the same day but told me they wouldn't see me until I was six weeks (as it's just too early to see much before then). Even when I went at 6 weeks, all they could see was a yolk sac, there was no fetal pole. I'm not sure if you're UK based or not, but if so I would ask your doc to refer you to the EPU for an early scan. If you're based elsewhere, then I'm sure they'll have some other kind of set-up where you can be referred for an early scan. Let me know how you get on with it.
As for a cause, no. They never gave me one, just that it's 'one of those things' and some women spot throughout pregnancy. I started spotting around 4dpo and continued for about 3 and a half weeks. It then stopped for about 10 days and came back with a vengeance, only to stop again a couple of days ago. Who knows, I don't think I'm out of the woods yet and I think there's every possibility it'll come back. I just hope it doesn't.
Akblaze never found a cause for her spotting either. Although
Hit Girl was diagnosed with a haematoma (which, although it's been horrible and frustrating for her, has not affected her lovely little baby at all. She's now almost 14 weeks).
Just take it easy, rest as much as you can and try and get referred for an early scan to put your mind at rest
CharlieJo how are you feeling? How has the spotting been? I really hope it's continuing to calm down and will eventually disappear. I don't know why doctors don't do more research into spotting during pregnancy, some magic pill to make it stop would be worth it's wait in gold.
I hope you're still taking it easy and that you're letting your DH run around after you.
Akblaze WOW! I'm LOVING the outfits!
They are so, so cute! It really does make you want the baby to hurry up so you can see how cute and tiny she's going to look in them! Roll on August!
I've fallen in love with the whole 'I love mommy' and 'Daddy's little girl' ones - they are really special. You are so lucky having a little girl, there must be an endless amount of cute outfits for you to buy!
Also, I love the Winnie The Pooh idea, that will look absolutely stunning. And it is so appropriate - wasn't it Winnie The Pooh who said: "A grand adventure is about to begin...". No truer words have been spoken (even if they were spoken by a cartoon bear!)
I'm glad to hear that you are staying away from Google. It's really the best thing for you. Nothing good ever comes from pregnant ladies obsessing over Google!
I'm glad you're going to start looking into Doulas. The more I think about it, the more I think it would be a good idea for you. I think you have a really wonderful idea of how you would like your labour to be and I think a Doula might be your best chance of making that happen. Doctors tend to want it done
their way not
your way. Plus, you could ask them to bring the mirror etc and then you only need to worry about packing your hospital bag. PS What on earth do you take in a hospital bag? I've seen movies where men run to get the hospital bag, but I've never had a clue what needs to go in it!
And I need to confess, I caved. I bought the doppler! Still waiting for it to be delivered so it should be here either today or tomorrow. I got the same one as you, so I need all your top tips on finding it. In fact, is that time machine still around? Perhaps you could just come over and show me!
I'm sorry you're still having Braxton Hicks, that's so annoying. Did your OB say they will stop soon or are you likely to experience them throughout your pregnancy? And I'm sorry about the continuing headaches, did staying hydrated help any?
AFM: Spotting still away for today. I'm not counting it as gone, I'm just taking it one day at a time as I was so disappointed when it came back the last time. But for today, it's good news! My MS was
slightly there yesterday, but not enough to make me feel unwell. I'm still having crazy aversions to everything. I want to vomit at the very thought of Chinese food which I usually love. Oh, and I seem to be loving strawberries right now!
What about you? Any more MS or food cravings/aversions?
I think it's so funny you've found the breathe easy strips are helping, I can just imagine what you look like
But hey, don't knock it if it works! Funnily enough, I've been feeling a little congested too, so I may well try that!
Well, it's my NT scan tomorrow
I can't wait to see my little one again. I'll update you as soon as I can.
Hope you and your little bundle of joy
are doing fantastically wonderful and sending you the biggest
possible.
