Hi Lovely Ladies,

Just venturing over from the LTTC side for some advice.

I have my next FS appointment in a few weeks and was wondering what might happen next.... if anything.

Im 29 and going to the John Radcliffe in Oxford. Ive tried 5 rounds of clomid, which the FS has said he is not going to give me anymore.... it made me ovulate and tbh he said that if it hadnt worked already it wasnt likely too. Ive had my HSG which showed clear tubes. DH hasnt got great sperm, but I cant remember what the results were as it was soooo long ago that they were done.

Oxfordshire PCT have an age 30-34 policy for IUI and IVF so Im not sure what will happen? My birthday is in August, do you think that they will be able to start getting the paperwork done or will it be a 'keep trying' until August conversation?

Wishing you all LOADS of luck with your journeys and hope that we'll be celebrating lots of LTTC :bfp:s soon xxxx

So do you know if there's anything wrong with you?

I'm in Sussex and we were basically told No to any NHS treatment :( So I don't know what's going to happen at you appnt. We just went private as couldn't afford to wait any longer. The benefit of going private is that there's no waiting lists at all! We were seen within a couple of weeks and treatment began the same day!

I think we're unexplained infertilty with DH having a poor SA, my CD21's didnt always show OV.... but since taking clomid I think it could have kicked started it back iygwim. We cant quite afford IVF as yet, so we're planning to go NHS for the 3 IUI's and 1 IVF whilst saving to go privately if we're not successful.

Cant believe that Sussex is no IVF at all.... thats TERRIBLE!

hi samba i cant be much use to you because we are also private but what i will say is we had all our testing through the nhs and you do sometimes have to be really pushy to get anywhere when you next go say that you want to try iui and that you are several months away from being 30 but how long is the waiting list, good luck x

Hey samba, when are you 30?

I can't see why the wouldn't put you on the list, you've been trying for 3 years now! If you've done your HSG depending on how long ago they might do another in prep for IUI and DH another 1 or 2 SAs.

I know our first FA appt involved chatting followed by tests & a follow up 3 months later when we got on the list? Although private now we did get the ball rolling with the NHS :hugs:

Rach - Im not 30 until August. HSG was done june/july last year and all the basic tests have been done. DH hasnt had a SA done in ages so perhaps they'll re-look at another for him. Fingers Crossed we can get anything done that is required ready. Thanks hun xxx

I shall keep my eyes & fingers crossed

The FS sperm test was more thorough than the one through the docs so hoping they put you on the list soon Hun :hugs:

Rach - we have had all ours done through the FS apart from one.... so would think that they would have had the 'proper' one done iygwim.

Thanks for all the crossing

Would you consider eggshare?? These cut the private costs down by quite a lot..

Some clinic yours pay as little as £300 for a IVF cycle and some clinics can be up to around £1800. We paid for ICIS with Care clinic doing eggshare instead of around £5,000 for a cycle as we eggshared all costs including drugs, scans, bloods etc came to just under £1800. Ours was a little more expensive as ICIS alone was £900 but we needed this due to MF.

When you say your saving if you look at it this way for as little as around £500 each (if you went care) which is nothing compared to £2500each to fund a cycle you could be able to start and begin treatment within a matter of week rather than months or even years. The tests take no time and there are no waiting lists I think I had first appointment May and was ready to start end of June time however we started July time and it was only a little wait more as I have pcos and was waiting on my AF..

I had my BFP by August time as you can see below I have a lovley princess on the way. The process was so straight forward hun no messing around the clinic so professionally and so helpful. I wouldnt advise you on eggshare if i didnt think it was a wonderful decision.. You can request some information from local clinics near you. Read through them and talk to your partner about them, it will explain all the rules and your be able to consider all questions and talk direct to the clinic about any queries you have.

I personally have no faith in PCT and funding at this presant time, lots are stopping funding or have very limited funding for fertility treatment and to be honest if you do get funding from NHS you are 1 of the VERY VERY lucky ones.. WE couldnt get any as the PCT had no money.. It is still struggling now so we decided on doing private and then we came across eggshare.. I didnt rush into the decision but i can tell you i am sooooooooooo glad i made that choice..

The system works with the PCT inputting the money to treatment (not the hospital waiting times) your find if the PCT has no money then you wont be seen.. Money starts from April (new tax year) you can check what sort of budget they have on the PCT website for fertility treatment but i can assure you it isnt a lot.. Think mine could fund around 20 - 30 people a year, which is not A LOT.. The money on my PCT started April and it was ran out by June time!! So any people on the waiting list would still be waiting until the following April when more money was raised and given.

A lot of people think its the hospital your waiting on its NOT its the PCT they fund all NHS treatment. This isnt just for fertility your find lots of people wont get treatment for all kinds of NHS treatment until new tax year begins!! UTTER shambles!!

If you would consider other options then I think eggshare is one of them, its a big decision but personally starting with some information or attending an open evening at the clinic (most do these) will help.

I am not sure where you live, but if there is a Care near you then I would recommend these :)

Good luck hun xx

Beauty, Firstly CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to write such an informative and lovely post! Egg share is something Ive played with in my mind iygwim... but never actually considered properly iygwim. Its definatley something that DH and I will talk about. Thanks again xxxx
