The last few weeks I've been having horrible dreams. I'm waking every hour and losing sleep because of them.

They are not even about pregnancy or birth or anything

Just weird and scary. You know them ones where you remember them all day and they play on your mind all day.

Last night was horrible I woke 4 times and kept going into the same dream :(

Anyone else having the same problem? Hope they go away soon, need a decent nights sleep!

i had a lot odd scary dreams in first tri but thankfully been awhile since.

Im used to scary dreams though, that is normal for me.Must be horrible if not something your use too. Hope they get better soon.

I've had lots of very vivid dreams and nightmares too. I think a lot of it is that you don't sleep as well when you're pregnant and so when you wake up more often you're more likely to remember what you were just dreaming. Definitely not fun though!

I think hormones are at play here. I had vivid nightmares my first pregnancy too. This time only a couple times, but nothing extraordinary.

About 10 years ago, I went through a period where I had horrible nightmares every night (to the point where I decided to stop sleeping). It turned out my hormones was completely out of whack and I stopped having my period for 3 of those months.

Other than that, do your nightmares remind you of anything? It could be your brain sorting things out. With my first pregnancy, some of my nightmares were actually flashbacks of when I was little and my dad shoved me down and kicked me in the stomach, only in my nightmare, I was grown and pregnant, and I was terrified because he was threatening to control the life and death of my baby. I didn't understand it at the time, but I knew that my dad was still trying to control my life and I had to get it sorted out in real life.

For the last few weeks, I have been having several bad dreams a night. Just like yours, mine are almost never related to pregnancy or the baby. Although, I do think the baby moving in the night has contributed to them. I've had several really unpleasant dreams in which something (worms, rats, and even an alien!) were moving around in my abdomen.
But for the most part, I think it's probably hormonal. That, and we're stressed about planning for baby, etc.

I have them a lot. I had a nasty pregnancy related one the other night :-( but also lots of other random ones. I was the same with my daughter. And for about 1-2 years after having my daughter I used to wake most nights searching for her in the bed thinking she was in bed with us and had been squashed or was under the covers. Used to drive my husband mad!!! It'd take me a minute or so to realise she wasn't in our bed. Strange ay. Hoping that doesn't happen again this time round :-/
