No Cramps, Hardly any bleeding and no BaBy on US - What kind of miscarriage is it?

Anyone else been in this boat before?

I think I should have been somewhere between 6 and 7 weeks yesterday and ultrasound tech said he didn't see anything! Ok, maybe you can't see a heartbeat but to not be able to see a yolk sac at least? So I guess I lost it but I'm not cramping and hardly bleeding - only when I wipe and a tiny bit on pantyliner - all pink/light brown. On Monday I peed in a cup at Dr office - didn't even hold my urine and test came up positive even before it had a chance to soak all the way through to the end and I started spotting on Friday!...did countless tests at home Since Sept 11th and all of them last week were getting darker and darker

Anyone help me please?

Hi hun, are they monitoring your bloods? Don't want to scare you but you have some symptoms of ectopic. On the positive side some women have a tilted womb and that makes it hard for the sonographer to see the embryo on the scan until a little later than usual. The lack of pain is a good sign too as spotting can be harmless in early pregnancy.Are your pregnancy tests getting darker in colour - again not a way of diagnosing the problem but it's proved a good indication for me. If I were you, if they haven't already i'd ask them to monitor my hcg, which involves a couple of blood tests a few days apart to see if they are rising appropriately.

Just re-read, you said the tests were getting darker. Any chance you ovulated later than you thought? With my dd I was a week behind what I thought I was when I went for scan and either ovulated late, or implantation took longer.

The fact that you aren't bleeding and cramping and have darkening tests are all good signs hun.

Thank you so much for your kind reply Looloobelle - I had a blood test done on Monday, and today I guess I'll find out about it as I am seeing my Dr and I'll get to hear all about the scan from him all over again

Perhaps he'll send me to do another blood test....I guess only time will tell but I'm not getting my hopes up because it was heartbreaking the first time - better be ready for the worst. And I really hope it's not ectopic, but I had no pain at all so hopefully it's a good sign.

If they saw a gestational sac but nothing else it could be a few things:
A. Too early with miscalculated dates
B. Tilted uterus making it extremely difficult to view anything on
C. Very early fetal demise
D. Blighted Ovum


If they didn't see the sac or found it in the wrong place it could be etopic or possibly a chemical (though six weeks is a bit long for a chemical, but not impossible).

I always encourage second opinions and for gals to ask those questions. I've learned there are so many things specific to the individual and the pregnancy/miscarriage that it's vital to find a professional who will explain in detail what you need to know. While dr google and forums are good for support, nothing will give peace of mind like a thorough medical professional who knows your situation/numbers and is willing to be honest and caring about it.

Well my dr confirmed that they didn't see anything on ultrasound but also said that on Monday my beta/hcg was over 2000 which is right on the dot for 6 week pregnancy so there would have been something there, but I must have passed it when I was spotting I did another blood test today but I'm almost 100% certain that the levels will show as falling - I will know on Monday I guess...

No apparently they didn't see anything - it's weird because the dr looked inside me today and saw no bleeding at all - I don't even know when I could have lost it, seeing how I started to spot on Friday (very light, almost nothing there) and had over 2000 score for beta/hcg on Monday and no baby at all on US on Tuesday all of this is very unusual - even doc is stumped and said it was weird that I'm not bleeding and all this looks bizzare. I'll wait till Monday for my other results to know. Maybe I need to jump-start my period?

That is truly bizarre. Sounds like a chemical if there's nothing at all. Etopic typically shows a sac near the ovaries. Hmmmmm. Hope they can figure it out for ya.

At 2000 I would have thought they would see even the ectopic, they spotted mine at 1500. Hope (if thats the right word - it's not, I hate the fact I was hoping my hcg would drop on it's own, but once I knew the pg wasn't viable it is the preferred option over an ectopic that need treatment!) that the pregnancy has resolved.

Keep us update hun. Thinking of you, the uncertainty is horrible.

Thanks hun - I guess I'll know for sure on Monday, but either way, I've accepted the fact that I lost it and I'm ready to move on, I'm just still very puzzled by disappearing baby and lack of blood, but I'm sure on Monday I'll figure it out

Well greenpear, I saw my 'lil bean in ER and one week later, the doctor at EPAU searched and couldn't find a thing. I was only spotting then.

That's what I expected too and I got ready with a bottle of Tylenol in hand to weather the storm but nothing happened. Yesterday I didn't spot at all and nothing today

the most confusing thing was that on Monday my beta/hcg bloods showed levels over 2000 and on Tuesday they didn't find a baby How did it manage to escape so fast? Tuesday morning I had a toonie sized spot of red blood once TMI - (and no clumps - just some blood) and then it went back to light brown/pink even that tapered off over the past few days and I gave up the whole bedrest idea and was walking lots and being busy and working and all that, so bleeding should have been worse...

Well I really hope to get my results on Monday for second blood test.

The crazy thing is that I'm still feeling pregnant which makes no sense, especially the part that when I got pregnant this time, my boobs weren't sore at all (and they usually are right before AF) well, now my boobs are sore! And I'm so tired I could drop dead every day although I sleep more now, and my emotions are wacked - laughing one minute, crying the next. Either my hormones are still tapering off and causing all these side effects, or something is still cooking...man I just wish Monday was here already (never thought I'd say that

When I was 10 weeks miscarrying my sac had shrunk to half it's size with not much blood. They said 2cm sac down to 1.2cm but when I did pass the sac 3 days after the scan it was very large, around 7cm

Hmmm...it's all possible - I guess tomorrow's numbers will at least tell me whether my levels are going up or down. I did a dumb thing and tested with FRER yesterday because I wanted to see if the line would be same color or fainter than the color I had on Monday (Monday was slightly fainter than control and my levels were around 2000) ~ I figured that would give me relative indication of falling levels or rising. Well, test line appeared before control and it was so dark and this time control looked as faint as my test line looked 2 weeks ago. While this may mean nothing - I could still have lots of hcg present in my urine, I'm just surprised that the test came out darker than on Monday...but guessing isn't going to help - I just wish tomorrow came faster

How was you scanned ? I had a abdominal scan and there was nothing to be seen, they couldn't find the baby. It wasn't until I had a vaginal scan that they saw it, I have a retroverted Uterus so that didn't help.

I hope your beta levels keep increasing and maybe you implanted later, so baby is smaller.
