Is it normal for my 3-month old to still be wanting breastfed every 2 hours? There is one gap during the day that she will take about a 3 hour nap, but other than that it is every 2 hours that she wants fed. I thought it was supposed to stretch out as they got older? I'm a stay at home Mom so it doesn't bother me, just wanted to know if this was normal.

Hiya,

Dylan is 4 months old and I feed on demand and whilst he occassionally goes for longer he does normally want feeding every couple of hours. He is a big boy though and he's growing well so he must need a fair bit of fuel to keep this growth rate up.

I somtimes think he should be going longer and sometimes he will (like if he's distracted or we're out) but it doesn't really bother me too much.

Aaron is seven months old now and still feeds every two hours, usually through the night as well. He will sometimes go three hours if we are out and he is kept distracted. I'm not sure that he really needs that much food, but it's easier just to feed him than have an unhappy baby, and who knows, perhaps he really is that hungry!

Its not necessarily about hunger... but thirst as well.
