Hi ladies,

Just wondering if any of you lovely ladies have been to, or are going to the Northampton General fertility clinic? (The NHS one not the Care one).
After struggling for over 2 years with just one MMC to report, we have finally been referred and have an appointment this week.
I really don't know what to expect, and we are wondering if anyone could enlighten us as to what kind of questions, tests etc to expect on our first appt? (I'm really scared but excited)!
I have had the bloods done and OH has had his SA done, so I'm guessing they will go through those with us. Oh and I have PCOS, they already tested for that.
Thanks in advance!

I would love to be under northampton general... but alas i'm stuck with kettering :dohh: (useless springs to mind!) I'm considering asking to to be transferred to them as i've heard good things x

They will go over any tests you've had done, order others that you haven't and talk about your options and set a plan of action for you. I had a follicle scan done the day before ovulation to measure sizes and such, also re did my progesterone 7dpo... i have my next appointment on 2nd april to find out whats next for me x

Let us know how it goes x

Hi Shells!
Thanks so much for getting back to me, I actually live closer to Ket than NGH but for some reason was referred there, by the sound of it thank goodness I was.... Having said that, I've been waiting since Oct for my first appt!
Our first appt is on Fri, so I will report back then and let you know how it goes. I'm so stressed already though and haven't even started! (Which doesn't help I know)!
Good luck with your second appt, hope that it goes well for you! X

no problem :flower:

I waited from the april when my referral went in til finally getting my appointment on october 22nd at KGH - but my second appointment (after chasing it up after not hearing for 3 weeks) came through for in just 2 weeks time (2nd of april), so i'm hoping the speed of things will pick up now!

Trouble with KGH is they only have 1 FS nurse and she only works tue-thurs... i had to wait 4 cycles for a scan as i couldn't get her on CD1 and she never picked up my voice messages i had to leave in time, or the date fell on days she didn't work... it's not great :nope:

But hopfully now i'm back 'in the system' as such things might move quicker x

Hi,

Well I came out of there feeling a little let down really. We didn't get to see the consultant at all, just the nurse (who was nice enough). She just went through the tests that I had had done-that I've had done many times, and has sent me off to have the same tests done
again? Even though they were ok?! And she went through OH SA which was great, so we've no problem there. Then she said that they will need to do a scan on day 10-14 (which I've already had in oct) and then they can give me Clomid. And that was it!
So we didn't learn anything new at all really. We were in there 5 mins max.
Just like you though, I have to contact her on day 1 as she has no apps left this month, and next month we will be on holiday, so I can only go at the end of May.... It's such a waiting game isn't it, when we have already waited enough! Still I'm holding on to that little bit of hope that it will happen naturally before then!
Let me know how you get on on the 2nd! Good luck x

oh no sorry you felt like that after your appointment :hugs: it is a waiting game, but at least clomid is on the cards... that's a step forward

I'll keep you posted on the 2nd x

I go to ngh, and feel a bit let down. My first appointment they scanned me and found a cyst.. Which they removed a month later... Thought was so quick!! But they leave 4 months in between each appointment... Which seems like a life time!! I have unexplained fertility problems, so guess its different for me. I guess at least they know why you are having difficulty, so having clomid should really help you!! All the best!! Xxx

Kgh is a joke! We went to them was given 6 months of clomid, which if they scan me correctly would have seen that I wasn't ovulating with clomid my follicles would grow and then stop completely! The nurse there was horrible she said we should wait a few more years because we are young(23) at the time which was very unprofessional! We then seen two specialist the first was lovely second referred us to Northampton care! I know its not the one you want but we were under the same specialist at Northampton general as care dr Davis! He is lovely explains everything would recommend him to everyone!

I am under mr. Davies!! He is so lovely... I just think nhs have their budgets and timelines, so everything moves pretty slowly :/ they would rather it happen naturally with me, which is understandable.. I would too. I'm just not a patient person :/

I honestly would recommend him to everone he's fantastic answers all out questions draws diagrams lol he's great! We will be transferred back to kgh because that's who referred us but we are going to transfer to Northampton! I've heard great reviews and complements about it! Kgh makes me soo cross and angry!

It does sound like you've had a hard time there :( its hard enough as it is!! He is so lovely.... You can tell he really enjoys what he does, which gives you confidence!! Glad somethings being done for you :) ...I read you got your bfp!!! :O congratualtions... really hope baby's a sticky bean for you!! Xx

How easy is it to transfer from KGH to NGH?? Can i request my treatment be moved to them or will i have a fight on my hands?

xx

I think to transfer you need to phone both hospitals and ask. We don't really want much to do with kgh that's why we have decided to move so we can get better antenatal care. I just hear so many good reports about it..... Thankyou Hayley x

Well here I am back, at least it seems that you actually got to see Mr Davis! I have been back this morn for an antral follicle scan as my FSH test came back really high last week. I was really worried that I was going through the menopause or something. It seems that I have plenty of eggies left though, they didn't even mention my FSH, they just said that I can have Clomid and they'll post me a prescription. I wouldn't know mr Davis if I saw him, and I have so many questions to ask! Ah well at least I will have the Clomid, If only it was that easy to get a baby posted to you! Good luck ladies, I'm so glad that its all going well for you and congratulations Danielle on your BFP! X

Good new on the clomid hope it does the trick for you! x

well i'm just back from KGH too!

They are really pleased with everything (especially my weight loss) ... no problems at all. Saw another different FS this time and she actually said she's not worried about ENDO as a problem, she said if it there it's minimal! Erm... ok :dohh: however... i'm being scheduled for a HSG :happydance: FINALLY!!!! (i probably won't be dancing after i've had it done lol) I asked about AMH level and she said they don't do that on the NHS and she said i won't need to pay private for it as it would be a waste of money with FSH levels of 4.6... she said for my age that is fantastic and would have expected it to be higher! they will only do the lap and dye if my tubes look blocked... i'll argue that one if i have to lol but basically has said if all comes back clear on HSG then there is nothing else they can do for me and i'll have to pay private for IUI or IVF (i knew this and again... i will argue that one if it comes to it!). Also asked about the spotting and she wasn't worried about that either! :dohh:

So yay for HSG - but if that is clear then FS is done with me basically... lets hope for a miracle girls or i'll be left to my own devices in a few months x
