I was just wondering if anyone else has been in the same boat and how things ended up going for them.

I'm currently 13 weeks pregnant and have been signed off of work sick since I was 5 weeks. I'm suffering really bad from sickness and dizzy spells and have fainted on a few occasions (which is why my doctor is most concerned as I solder as a job and I am expected to do 230 circuit boards in an hour). If I'm not being sick I constantly feel sick and feel as if my head is clogged up. I have on several occasions tried to go back to work but I felt as if people were getting irritated with me because I couldn't keep up and have had to dash off to the toilet a couple of times which result in them just sending me home.
Since I was 14 I have also suffered from really bad anxiety and being pregnant means I can no longer take the medication I need to help me with it which has now lead to me having panic attacks because of me feeling like I can not work in that type of environment (I work in a factory of 500 people) :dohh:
Long story short, my doctor wants me to quit my job and find something where there isn't so many people, where it isn't so busy and possibly part time, even though she doesn't think I'll go back to work if my sickness carries on the way it does?! I just don't know what to do. I work for an agency as well and I feel like they are getting annoyed with my sick notes as they make very sly remarks when I hand them in.

I've just had to quit my job as I was signed off with exactly the same and have now again started suffering stress, depression and anxiety. It's really scary not working and trying to work out how to claim the benefits I need..

your company has to do a risk assessment on your job with you and find ways to make the risks identified safer - or find you another job that is safe with no changes to your current pay and conditions (if it's a lower paid position they can not drop your pay).... if they can't do that they must suspend you on full pay until the 4th week before your baby is due then they can start your maternity leave.

it's the Law in the UK ladies, they have to abide by it

My work have been great with doing what is needed without being asked however they are being over cautious and i understand why, but i'm now doing a job i really wasn't ready to be doing until further along, however i am at no risk (except maybe boredom now lol) and my beans are safe and i can do things at my pace. I work in child disability and had an active case load of 20 - within a week i had 0 and am now based in the office and am on the end of a phone for new families for consultation until they are allocated a colleague to work with them.

I have hyperemesis, and after I blew through all of my sick and vacation time, I finally went on short term disability leave 2 months ago. I'm not sure yet when I'll be able to return to work. It's stressful, to say the least, though I'm glad disability was an option at my job. I don't know what the right solution is. It seems wrong and unfair to have to lose a job because you're sick, especially at a time when you likely need your health insurance and need as much income as possible, though I understand the employer's needs, of course. It's a tough situation and the added stress doesn't help anything.
