I love a good debate but some people are guilty of pushing it too far to the point of being deliberately confrontational. There is no fun in everyone posting the same thing saying yes I agree with you completely but no one wants to be attacked when their post is misinterpreted. I used to avoid babyclub because the squabbling and bitching was getting out of hand.

There was nothing getting out of hand on the original thread. It wasn't even a debate. It was just people saying basically, that it sometimes has to be done, and 1 person disagreed with the OP and she took offence to that particular post. <3

I was speaking generally about posts in babyclub that can turn nasty. I agree, the original post was not heated but more misinterpreted. Like others have said previously - it is difficult to understand the tone of a written conversation so people do take things the wrong way and things spiral out of control but I do believe that some are guilty of deliberately starting controversial topics or replying in such a manner to turn them that way.

I started posting in here BECAUSE it gets a little spicy :winkwink: As soon as people start to mellow out I move on! Especially now that I'm in my third tri and I'm turning into a mega bitch

I read through your last thread and didn't find anything in it overly offensive

I do have to agree with what someone else said about these types of threads. I think it's one thing if you start them to have a discussion about what's bothering you. But if you start them just to say "people suck I'm leaving" then it seems a bit pointless and sort of a play to get everyone to feel bad for you. Sorry if that's a bit harsh...

I love a good ol' forum spat :haha:

wont lie I get filled with a sense of excitement when I see a controversial thread title and over six pages of replies ;)

ERF car seats anyone? That's always guaranteed to drum up a bit of drama..... :haha:

Early weaning.......

Edit: Don't you just hate it when you think you're all smug using an smiley just by typing it and then it doesn't work

Is there seriously not one of inconspicous whistling?!

LOL

People just like to give their opinions some do it in the right way some don't, but there is something about a discussion/debate that makes you want to give your pennies worth :haha:

jstarr, I think you are entitled to use :smug:

It always amazes me that people take things so personally on here. Maybe I am just a bit too thick skinned, but aside from two or three people I know more closely, the rest of you are just strangers...just words on an Internet page. I like lots and lots of you - but I don't know you. I only know what you choose to show to the forum. It surprises me that people can get so upset about things on here, when for all a lot of us know, the person giving you that crap could be a 13-year-old lad with nothing better to do!

Live and let live I say, and if people don't agree with you - or even if they say some nasties - at the end of the day, what does it really matter. Sticks and stones...

I think BnB is a pretty mint place all in all.

You think this forums bad..you should see some of the other ones! Some of you may remember a thread a few months back from another forum where a bunch of women were defending the use of marijuana during pregnancy and being really REALLY childish and b**chy about it.

It's really just something you get used to. If it does stress you out that much though then it's best not to be around things that stress you out, kids are stressful enough on their own so no need to add to that =)

I think we all have our moments of feeling over sensitive or less sensitive than usual. We're all women, we all go through the same cycles of emotion. One day we think F*** everyone I'm sick of being nice and the next day we're nicer than ever. What's important is that you recognize that we all have feelings, strong emotions about certain topics, we all are capable of feeling defensive, and we are all capable of expressing ourselves. Sometimes we lack tact, sometimes we say things too nicely. The best you can do is try not to take it personally, but if you just can't help but take it personally then it's best to step away from the conversation. I say "you" but I don't mean just the OP, I mean all of us here on BnB.

I barely ever post any more on here, it doesnt seem to matter what the post is anymore its always turned into something bad.

Not always!!! Come on...looks at how many threads are full of good advice and support? :D

I like it here, most people are lush and so helpfull.
No point in everyone having the smae opinion on every issue, that would be boring-the arguments add a pinch of interest and makes for some juicy reading:haha:

I replied to your other thread but not in a bitchy way and to be honest I dont think it went too badly reading through:shrug:

Jesus what happened in the time I went to the bank? I replied to your other thread, I was pretty annoyed by it as from your original post it was just judging someone for doing something a hell of a lot of people do, not to put their kids in danger but to stop daft behaviour in public. Sorry for being sarcastic in the first post though, I was trying to stay light hearted about it despite being a little offended. That said, I've probably accidentally offended many posters on here at some point so I can't really say anything :p anyway I've no idea what happened later on as I ended up out for quite a while :p hope it didn't get too out of hand.

Agree with what a PP said about this being one of the tamer forums, I've had a good look around and it gets pretty ugly out there. I likes it here :) :flow:

Phew! I also find it odd how people get so upset and take things personally. Sometimes you say one word out of place and it gets picked on. Similar to a few of you, to me this is just an Internet site. No offence but at the end of the day I'll switch off my computer and go back to the real world and not really think about it. The girls on here are very supportive if you have a genuine question or concern. The more argumentative threads are fun. Forums are about debating issues, that's the point of it. If you didn't want a range of views you would just ask one person in the real world. Why get so caught up? Either enjoy the debates or switch off the damn computer and live your life, that's what I say!
