depends on where you are.
in the US we have a store called David's Bridal that has really nice dresses that won't break the bank and they keep a lot of sizes in stock that you can take home that day.

Hey hun not sure where u r based, but i went to a shop in portsmouth, who also have an ebay shop and they do plus size dresses, some in stock or made to order ones that take about 16 wks to come through from china.

When I had my high school prom I ordered a custom made dress off ebay from China and it turned out wonderful and fit me pefectly! I loved it!
