I am out of my mind with worry right now. Friday as I was getting ready for the end of the work day. My left foot started to swell severely and the left side of my face felt tingly and hot. On top of that I had a massive headache and was feeling a little lost or confused I don't know which describes it better. When I got home I laid down for about two hours and nothing improved so we went to the OB Triage unit at the Hospital I will be delivering at. My Blood Pressure reading was 163/103 and for the entire 4 hours I was the lowest it went down to was 155/95. They listened to the baby and he sounded good and was moving just fine. He gave me a prescription for Aldomet which is a blood pressure medication and something for the headache. Also they sent me home with a jug to do a 24 hour urine collection. He said I need to follow up with my OB which I am doing on Wednesday morning and to return if I did not feel better or got worse. I explained to him that my OB has scheduled me in for growth scans every two weeks starting my 27th week and we check my urine at every appointment. He said that most likely I will be doing bi weekly 24 hour urine collections and blood panels in correlation with the bi weekly scans because at this point I am on the verge of developing pre-eclampsia. He said he knows we will not get my blood pressure down to a healthy level but that we absolutely cannot allow it to get any higher or it puts me and the baby at serious risk.

I am so scared and have no idea what else I can do to keep from ending up delivering way to early. Any one else facing this situation or similar have any advice? I am 25 weeks today.

Also the nurse used a catheter to get a sterile urine sample and for the next 36 hours their was white tissue looking stuff in my urine and it also had a strong odor. No burning or itching and it has just about all gone away now. Any ideas?

No experience Hun but just wanted to say good luck with it on and give u a :hugs: xx

I have no advice, but I hope your blood pressure goes down so you can keep that baby growing strong inside. *hugs*

O sweetheart, so sorry your going through this! I imagine the only thing you can do is to keep as calm and relaxed as you can (I know, silky thing to say when you're so stressed), off your feet, work, house and responsibilities will have to wait!

It sounds like you're in good hands though, hope you feel better soon and get some more positive news xxxx

thinking of you over the next few days. Ive had 3 babies delivered early because of pre eclampsia, they will keep you medicated and your little one in there for as long as they can. Drink lots of water and rest xx

I am so sorry that I can't give you any advice as I have no experience but didn't want to R & R. Good luck and I really prey you can keep baby in there as long as possible so you are both ok. *Hugs* xx

no idea here but I hope everything turns out ok for you.

I am a week behind you and have had my 2 previous pregnancies induced due to pre eclampsia. I had the midwife today and my blood pressure is up slightly, I have protein i my urine and slightly swollen feet so I am also worried....I am 39 and high risk anyway due to other health issues that I have! It is worrying but like others have said try and rest as much as you can , If you can make it through the next 2 weeks then the baby has a very high chance that it will be fine, even now it stands a good chance...the fact that they are aware of it is good and hopefully they will keep a close eye on you, I would have thought if they were that worried they would have hospitalised you as I was with my last son. I am having my blood pressure checked every 3 days at the moment and growth scans regular as I have gestational diabetes too!!!

I totally understand how you feel!! :hugs:

I am about 20 weeks, and starting at 12 weeks, my pressures were 155/115 and my Dr figures I had chronic hypertension before pregnancy. Initially, my obgyn told me we would be laughing if we got to 32 weeks - which freaked me out! That's two months early!! I had to see her every two weeks, have groth ultrasounds every two weeks, and do LOTS of urine (incl. the grody 24 hour one), too.

I am on 30mg Adalat, twice a day, and my pressures are getting better daily. This morning I read 123/82! I started out on Labetalol, but that made me feel HORRIBLE, so they switched me. I was a stay at home mom to two before, and I have one little 20 month old that I babysit full time, but I don't work outside of the house. My Dr told me to just rest, which means having a "my husband cleaned it" kind of house, a backlog of laundry, and I watch a LOT of movies with the kids.

I was prepared to have a seriously teeny baby, deliver early, and there was basically a lot of doom and gloom around me. But guess what?

The meds are working, the rest is working, and my baby is right on track for growth, and I feel human again. I am keeping steady on my meds, and now I only have to see the obgyn every three weeks, and have ultrasounds every 3-4. Keep having hope that the meds will work for you. Cut out salt, processed foods, etc. The Drs told me all the same stuff they told you, but things have really improved here. Keep on believing!

ps: isn't a high bp headache THE worst?!?!

Take care, and feel better! Try not to worry, even though its hard! :flower:

I had pre-e with my last pg. I was put on the same med as you, 3 times a day and it worked for a few weeks, and then went up again, and so they increased my med. I was on bedrest 23hours a day, had 1 NST a week and a bio scan on baby each week.

I had a c-section at 37weeks because baby stopped moving well and we didn't want to take a chance. I was in the hospital for 6 days after, trying to get my BP normal and I had to stay on BP meds for awhile.

Best wishes.

Aww I'm sorry. No advice or experience, just :hugs: I'm glad you're getting monitored though and if there is a problem they will be on top of things to make sure your baby gets here safely. Thinking of you. Hope the meds help and they can keep your LO in there as long as possible.

We my OB called and wanted to readmit me. Good thing he did as my blood pressure was 179/106. I do have pre eclampsia and will be on bedrest for the duration. He aims to get me to 34 weeks but has alredy started preparation for a pre term birth. I received my first steroid shot for babys lungs and will get another in the morning. I meet with the high risk and neonatal team tomorrow. I will be here in the hospital indefinitely.

I keep asking how the hell I ended up here. All I want is a healthy baby with the man I love and my bodydenied me that for two years. Now I m finally carrying my precious gift and my body is failing me again. So many thoughts are racing through my mind that I can't help but cry.

:hugs: you are in the best possible place and have all the professionals around that you could hope for to look after your special parcel! x

Aww hunny, like bump said, you are in the best place. Hang in there little baby and grow for your mama.

Lots of love and hugs :hugs:

So sorry your going through this but at least your in the best place possible for you and baby, I hope he stays put for you for a while longer yet :hugs: x

Massive hugs, you must be petrified. They will keep a close eye on you. Try to stay calm xxxx

Hey hun, only just seen your post! Sorry to hear you're having such a rough time! My hubby's mum had severe pre-e and my hubby was born at 27 weeks - he's now a big roughtie toughtie, ex rugby playing 16 stone soldier :) You are in the best possible place hun so just sit tight and keep hoping ok? Big hugs to you XXX

:hugs: I'm sorry. It must be scary and overwhelming. You are in the safest place now for you and bubs and it sounds like you have a really dedicated doctor and team looking after you that are being proactive.
