Earl was FF from birth on SMA 1. He was always a big eater and peaked at 56oz a day at one stage when he was about 3 months old.
We kept him on the SMA 1 until his first birthday - by then he was down to 3 x 7oz bottles per day so we swapped to the SMA 3 toddler milk (skipping the stage 2 one).
He's always had a bottle at bedtime, and has never slept through having to have at least 1 bottle over night, if not 2 most of the time.
I had swapped him down to just 1 bottle of formula at bedtime with everything else cows milk, including overnight, and I was quite happy with this and to wait for him to not need the overnight bottles before I got rid of his formula.
Three nights ago we ran out of formula and the shop didn't have any SMA 3 in so we had to give him cows milk and......he slept through 6.30-6.30 for the first time in his life! We tried it again the next night and apart from stirring due to a lost dummy, no bottles and no wakings at all, 7-7.30. Last night was the same apart from being woken up by something (I'm still not quite sure what
) and then going straight back to bed without a bottle. 7-8!!!
So, I guess it was the formula that was the key factor here.....and Earl is sleeping a lot better. I will not miss the bottles (we've stopped the bottle itself tonight and they will go in the bin next week when we're sure we're good).
So at just shy of 15 months, Earl is off the formula. I should have shares in SMA for the amount he's drunk over his short lifetime.......but just to prove that even the biggest eaters can come off it sooner than you think.![Thumb up  ](/styles/default/xenforo/smilies/good.gif)
