My husband made a fat joke at me this morning. At 17 weeks, I don't have a proper bump, but I am expanding outwards. I more look like I am just gaining weight rather than actually looking pregnant. I'm starting to get a little bummed out about it, especially since I've always been pretty trim. This morning I mentioned it to him while I was looking in the mirror.
He responded with "Hey, this is the only time in my life I'll ever get to call you fat. Don't take that away from me."
I KNOW he was kidding, 100%, he would never say something like that to me and mean it. But it was a pretty low blow. I've been really down in the dumps since I found out a friend of mine died yesterday, so I was already pretty bummed out when he said it. I almost started crying and just squeaked out "Please don't call me fat."
He realized his mistake, immediately apologized and hugged me, but he also better be bringing me flowers when he gets home tonight.
Bless his heart, he was just trying to make me laugh, just did it in completely the wrong way.
