Hi there

I was diagnosed with low amniotic fluid at 19 weeks, the specialist gave us the option to terminate our pregnancy, but we decided against it. I am 21 weeks now. Our baby's heartrate was good and all the organs were ok. Im going to the dr again on the 12th , i've been on bedrest and drinking litres of water and also drinking gelatin, read that it helps. We are praying that our little one will be ok. There was too little fluid last time to see if it is a boy or a girl. They think it is a boy. Is there anyone with advice or who has gone through the same?

Do not lose heart. I was diagonised with low AFI at 28 weeks. Completing 37 weeks on Friday, so kind of managed for 9 weeks. It has been low consistently but hovering around the 8 mark. how much is yours?

Keep drinking water, increase your protein intake. Amniotic fluid is made of amino acids..i.e. protein. If the levels dont dip, nothing to worry.

thank you so much, i will up the protein, it is so nice to know Im not alone in this, I hope you all of the best with your baby too :)
they never told me how much the fluid level is just said it is extremely low, will ask the dr when i go again.

thanks again

I had this with my daughter at around the same time and managed to carry her till 29 weeks. Is baby measuring ok? Xx

I had oligohydramnios from 14 weeks after my waters broke too early. The least amount of water I had was 1.2 but it was usually around the 3 mark. I delivered at 40+3 any my son is almost 3.5. Never lose hope. O ligohydramnios in itself is not a 'big deal' as long as baby continues to grow.
