So I like many others want 2 embryos put back when the time is right. The clinic told me to read this website, wish I hadn't know really it makes some awful reading! Not sure if they do that to scare you! lol! Ah what to do! Got plenty of time to decide tho!

anyone got any thoughts or what did you do when it came to your ET?

They advised 1 embryo for me as I'm 25 and it should be a good quality one (fingers crossed)

Don't click on the link if you don't want to read the risks!

Hiya Mummyiwanabe, how did you get on at the hospital?

I was told they would only put 1 back in due to my age (28), so I wont really get to decide. I have thought about it though and I think it would all depend on the quality of the embies that would swing my choice. What are you tempted to do?

Hiya obe,

It went well, my scan was good, I have both sides looking good and very accesible. About 15 sacs or something so expecting around 15 eggs if I'm lucky. She confirmed I have ovulated as well which I thought I had so that was good to hear.

She advised to put 1 in if my embryo is very good quality but I initially wanted 2. She said that;s our choice and perfectly allowed to do this they just advise against it. Read some of the stories on that website tho and its making me think twice definately.

We're similar ages so its interesting to know what grade eggs you get out of yours and what your ultimate decision will be.

She was very positive with me and told me that the eggs should be great quality and that chances of fertilisation with ICSI for my age was 90% its just the implantation that is the unknown really. She said embryos she would expect to be very high grade. She seemed very positive almost overly so, so I'm holding back a bit as its' still all unknowns and we shall see how I respond to the meds and stuff.

:hugs:

Or brilliant, thats really good news! At least its very positive feed back. They are always quite positive with me also, usually to do with my age and that there isnt anything wrong with me but as you say, at the end of the day they dont have any control over what our bodies do after ET.
When I went for my scan she couldnt see anything, which I now know was because I hadnt ov'ed yet, so I wish I could of had it when I was ov'ing and know what was in there!
Do you start on your next cylcle then?
xx

I have to call them on Day 1 of my next cycle (30th March hopefully) then they'll book me a day 19 appointment which is when I'll start the drugs and run through how to inject them etc. then EC is approx 4th May with ET on 7th May. They said I don't need a blasto cos of my age so a 3 day transfer is fine. Is that what you were recommended?

When's your EC and ET? :)

It was funny to see I'd O'd, you could see it had left a little trail where it had been! I asked whether she could see if a miracle had happened and it had implanted but they couldn't tell lol! don' think it would have tho as we've barely BD'd as I've had thrush! lol! nice!

Remind me Obe why are you having ICSI is it cos of OH?

Were you told to expect a good quality of egg/good grade embryos? How many eggs are they expecting you to produce?

xxxxx

Or fab, I bet that was good to see!
I dont know when my ET will be now, I will ask the question when I go back on Friday. I am a bit worried as I dont feel any changes since I did my first injection, im not having any side effects so I hope my body is doing what it should be.
We are having ICSI because my OH had the snip while he was with his ex wife. He had it reversed but the motility is quite poor so I think this will be the only way for us.
She didnt say anything about how many I should produce but I should have good quality, again due to my age. I really hope I do!
xx

Yeh was good to see! A relief that my body is all fine. Hmm if you're worried perhaps give them a call and ask if its normal to not feel anything. Mind you first injection i guess its early days? Maybe it takes a while to feel the down reg in your body.

Did they mention to you about blasto?

Have a great weekend obe :)

No nothing about blasto, just that I would be having ET 3 to 5 days after EC. We shall see what happens anyway once the time comes.
Ive only got a week to wait until I go back so we shall see what the scan shows.
I will speak to you later, have a nice weekend too hun xx

OK - I'm gonna do it... I'm gonna click on the link and have a look!

I had my first meeting today - and we're on for IVF.
Planning meeting is in a few weeks but I reckon we'll start with the injections mid may...
I really want to put 2 embryos back.
OK - well that's what I say now - but I'll report back later after I've read the link!
Whats ET and age got to do with it? I'm 31 - do you think that'll affect it?
My consultant didn't say anything about it - or ask me my preference - she just said that they'll decide depending on quality at 2-3 days - whether to implant 2 or go for 1x blastocyst.....

Nope - I still want 2 !!!!

And mostly because we're doing this on the NHS. Once we have a child they won't give us any more treatment. and we can't afford it ourselves.
and I was a very lonely only child so I want my children to have a sibling.
I LOVE the thought of twins but I think I'd be very worried with triplets.......

Hi Cazd,

apparently my clinic said cos of my age that embryos should be good quality (we will have to wait and see tho) and so 1 should suffice. If you're older sometimes your eggs aren't so good but they usually wait and see how good they are from the grading then advise how many to put back in. In theory mine said 1 but they would do 2 if I insisted.

The website worried me a little but I think it's more likely I'd be the 75% that didn't have a twin and if it did happen then I'd look at it like if it had happened naturally we wouldn't have been given a choice and would have to deal with the extra risk etc. We have more chance this way.

May change me mind but that's me thinking for now! :)

triplets would defo scare me, much more risks again I guess. My neighbour has twins and some people are fine with it, they seem to highlight on the website a lot of negative but maybe that's cos also it costs nhs a lot of money on incubators etc and operations if they need to operate on premature babies and if everyone from IVF had 2 put in this would put strain on the nhs maybe. Well that's me thinking xxx
