i was 9cm when i got checked and it never hurt so i do just think it depends on the MW and your body

yer they tried talking me into having baby in hospital! cos my iron levels were 0.4 under the recommended level!
I SAID NO!
I am having him at home!!

and all went 'swimmingly'

I have now informed my OH that one of his jobs when I eventually get pregnant and have a baby is to check out the midwife's hands. Knowing my luck she'll have massive shovel hands or something...
