Hello all,

I am not TTC and have been taking the birth control YAZ for over a year. Around December or January, I stopped getting my period but wasn't too concerned as I read several posts from women online who have also experienced this. However, my lack of period makes me very nervous at the end of each month and I usually buy a pregnancy test (or two) to confirm that I am not pregnant.
This month was not unlike the others.. my period had not shown up. Instead of buying a nice reliable First Response, I chose the Answer brand strips (box contained 5).
My first test was suspect, the control line appeared normally but that background remained pink and the test line remained pure white. I decided to test again, more our of boredom than anything since I had so many extra strips. Well lo and behold, the second was a BFP. Not faint at all, showed up within 5 mins.
Scared and very confused, i tested again, and again AND AGAIN. I used the remaining 3 strips which resulted in 2 more BFNs and 1 BFP.
I immediately drove over to CVS to get a First Response. The 2 pack was on sale so I bought it. I peed on one, dipped the other. Both BFN.

So... I'm freaking out obviously. I know false positives are rare and 2 would be unheard of.. so why would 3 of the strips be soooo negative (not even the slightest line) and 2 be sooo positive.

I am going to test again with FMU but even if I get a BFN, those positives will continue to haunt me. Perhaps I should get a blood test?!

What are your thoughts ladies??

Thank you!!

hmmm...i really dont know what to tell you. it seemed that you just had a bad bunch of tests but i cant be sure. i would get a blood test to get things sorted out so you dont worry yourself to death.

I really hope it turns out the way you hope :hugs:

I'm with MsLesley - you'll go mad wondering, ask a GP for a blood test.

Good luck xx

Update:

Took a digital with FMU. BFN... and saw hints of AF while testing.. good grief.
Here's a tip: don't buy answer brand strips!!!!!

Thank you ladies for your comments

Did you dip them in the same cup? I think that can alter results.

Yes I did! I had no idea that could alter results.
Thanks for the info

I have had false positives on pink dye and blue dye tests. I am all about the digis from here on out!
