Long as your comfortable with all the safety procedures I am sure she will be on the ball too!

I know I'm hoping it doesn't bother him too much, hes slept through for 4 months now im not ready to be awake :haha:

I know i am lucky we have savings because we don't have that just lying around :haha:

I'll keep this thread going for updates and pictures :)

We have our appointment with the private consultant on Thursday 14th May at 3pm, and from then on, the helmet should be ready within 7-14days after that appointment, treatment for 6 month olds and under are fairly quick, and as he will only be turning 6 months this week will hopefully fall into that category.

Thank you bev :)

I know the feeling DS Slept through from the same age but we are now going through the 10 month sleep regression !

Wow that was a quick turn around amazing !

Hope all goes well at the appointment !

Thank you :) the appointment is in Cardiff so I hope we don't get pulled on the way in :haha: we're still in complete lockdown for 3 more weeks and are not allowed to travel, but they can't say nothing if I'm taking my child to an appointment lol

Fingers crossed you get to the appointment with no issues!

So we seen the specialist today.. turns out Enzos head falls into the severe category, anything over a 14mm difference is severe and Enzo has a 19mm difference. He is looking at around 7 months of helmet treatment with 5 months being best case scenario. He had all his scans done and they get sent off tomorrow and the helmet should be with us in 2 weeks ready to be fitted :)

Still can't get my head around I wo t be able to run my fingers through Enzos thick hair whenever I please, but at the end of this he will probably need to be wearing a man bun! Lol

Can't believe I was going to just let this slide as the nhs consultant said it was a mild case, you can tell its not just by looking! Never mind, I guess sometimes you really do get what you pay for in terms of accuracy.

Its not even the cosmetic side of it that worries me if we had left it, its the fact that of we did, Enzo would have big trouble getting helmets/hats/glasses to fit him later in life. The money is nothing in comparison. If we did wait for thr NHS, we would be looking at around 8 months waiting time, but by going privately we would have gotten it sorted before we've even been seen by the NHS consultant.

So, we've made the right choice. I cant wait to see him in his little helmet

So glad you got that second opinion! My son wore a helmet as well. I got comments all the time from mom’s whose kids wore a helmet as kids as well. I’m not sure how different usage is, but I know my son did not wear his 24/7. Plus there are just times you wouldn’t wear it (bath, swimming). Just embrace those hairy moments and don’t let anybody tell you when to cut his hair. My son is nearing 3 and I’ve been telling people for 2 years to shut the front door about cutting his hair to basically shaved. My kid, my choice. It’s amazing how both of you will adapt to the helmet. Fxed you get it quickly and it helps :hugs:

Oh wow 7 months will fly by if it’s needed for that long ! I’m glad you went with your gut and pushed for a second opinion !
Such a quick turn around which is good no messing about !

Oh yeah don’t be cutting his hair if people say ! I want my DS to have longish hair with those cute curls baby’s have haha .

I’m sure you will all get used to it after a few days! To be honest you’ve had such a great up beat attitude to it all and you’ve just pushed on ! I hope you see results quick ! xxx

Thank you everyone, i am excited to see some results! He will be wearing it for 23 hours a day, he can take it off for half hour in the morning to get washed and dressed and half hour in the evening to bath, im sure he will be absolutely fine, the hemnets are so cute too they come in all different designs. We chose a cute little blue camo one, its nice and bright for the summer and im sure his brother and sister will be decorating him up with stickers :haha:

So thats the scans sent off to the states and the helmet should be with us within 14 days for fitting! Such a bittersweet time <3

Ahh fab!

The months will fly by too hopefully .

The helmets are so much nicer than what they used to be ! Cannot wait to see what stickers your eldest two put on it . I’m sure there will be a love heart sticker on there somewhere haha.

Hahaha yes! I can see power ranger stickers from my son, with some diamantes from my daughter :haha: they will jazz up his helmet thats for sure!

Aww. My cousin wore a helmet years back when he was a baby and they decorated it for him :)

Aww I cannot wait to see their creations on the helmet Haha

It’s amazing how kids just adapt to things and get on with it ! It’s us adults that sometimes have the problem ! We need to take a leaf out of the kids books

This is so true! We are the culprits of our own anxiety, not our children causing it! I know he will be absolutely fine and 7 months isn't even that long really, the helmet should be off either just before or just after his first birthday, and then he will have a lifetime of a perfect little head :haha:

so we got a date for our helmet fitting! The 28th May, so exciting!
