Hello ladies! I am currently 6 weeks and 6 days pregnant with baby #3. I had an ultrasound due to having pains on the right side of my pelvis.

I was discovered to have an ovarian cyst of around 5cm in diameter. I have been exercising for a long time now and continued my exercise (but lighter) throughout my pregnancy... but now after seeing this cyst, the Dr advises against exercise in order to protect my ovary. Does this make sense? Sure Drs will want to err on the side of caution but no exercise at all?? I feel like I need to to stay sane... anyone else going through something similar?

As a person who suffered incontinence for a long time, even prior to my pregnancies, I feel really exhausted by it. Maybe it's easy to just live with incontinence but after my last delivery, my bladder would just release without warning and it was horribly embarrassing. A Dr told me that if it's that bad she recommends against vaginal delivery. Of course, ultimately the choice would be mine and it is too early to think about it maybe but does it make sense? Would another vaginal delivery make things worse for my bladder?

Thanks ladies.

I’d ask to be referred to a specialist regarding these issues!

Hi, firstly congratulations. I have a right sided ovarian cyst measuring 8cms. It was found covering my ovary at an early scan at the EPU when I was 6 weeks pregnant as I had pink spotting and terrible cramping and backache on the right side. I was asked back for a follow up scan at 8 weeks to check baby’s growth and the cyst. Baby was fine and my cyst still in the same place had grown a bit and I was told it may need removed but they said they would keep an eye on it at each scan. I had my routine 12 week scan last week and cyst has been pushed further down away from my ovary... so much so the sonographer would of missed it if I hadn’t pointed out I had a large cyst. It still remains the same but away from my ovary, the sonographer reckons with the baby growing it has pushed it out the way. I have no idea what happens from here though! I wasn’t advised against exercise however I was told there was a good chance it could rupture or twist and I was to watch out for signs and go straight to A+E if there was signs of that happening, so just be careful and if you suspect anything like that obviously head straight there.
When do you have another scan? Hopefully it has gone for you then.

I was told not to exercise and to stay within 20 minutes of a hospital at all times, and my cyst was about your size. Ultimately boiled down to my ovary or my pregnancy (no guarantees of viability long run), and being in the life situation I was I ultimately had to make the choice to save my ovary. I hope you ladies have much happier, healthy outcomes.

I do hope it resolves itself... I know I had a cyst during my first pregnancy but it was gone by week 12. I will probably have another scan in 3 weeks.

So sorry to hear about this...!

My midwife doesn’t seem too concerned apparently it’s a simple cyst and she reckons it will just go, hopefully yours will do the same x

Oh that’s awful, sorry to hear that

Thank you ladies. I have come to terms with if. I think her concern was I had a history of pregnancy related cysts that causes multiple threatened miscarriage situations. I have a beautiful son now, so while I miss my angel baby I trust in the universe’s plan. Hoping your cysts resolve or stay quiet and you can enjoy your pregnancies!
