Over 35 and Pregnant!

Hi :hi:

I'm Suze and I'm 37 and this is pregnancy no.6 for me, I have a beautiful daughter 21 months old.

I'm going for my NT scan next week and having a specialist scan due to my baby boy I lost at 17 weeks who had the chromosomal abnormality triploidy. I'm feeing slightly conscious of the fact my risks are increasing due to my age...and the fact I have had a few losses including a chromosomal

Hi Pip :hi: hope the sickness isn't getting you down too much

hi suze :flower: hope everything goes ok next week in your scan and see we are in the same part of the world ,pip bnb seems to be better now

Hello all. Glad to see this Pip.

I'm Kierin and currently live in Upstate NY. I will be 43 shortly after this little one is due. This will be my third and hopefully final child. I feel like I am getting to old for this. In some ways, it has been the easiest pregnancy and other ways the hardest.

Hello ladies

Maryanne - whereabouts are you. I'm originally from Teesside but live in North Yorkshire now.

Suze - I thought it was as I had about an hour's respite yesterday morning. Made up for it since. Had terrible waves of nausea last night. I think I was over tired.

Kierin - what a beautiful name you have (although my spellchecker on this stupid phone wants to make you a Kieron and Suze a Size!!). What has been hard and easy about this pregnancy for you?

I know what you mean... I, too, feel like I am getting too old for this and it has been a relatively easy pregnancy without complications (except for that gestational diabetes, which I am controlling with diet, no insulin needed), but sometimes it seems so much more difficult to do the smallest things.

pip i`m up newcastle way ,i had a holiday a few year ago in yorkshire there was a storm while we were there and i must say the lightening was fantastic ,i`ll never forget it lol

I always have to add the name to my spellcheckers if I want them to quit flagging it so I know what you mean.

My first two pregnancies saw me with morning sickness for about six to seven months. That makes this one much easier since I hardly get sick anymore now unless I don't get enough sleep.

It is harder because I never did this with a small child in the house and that makes the sleep harder to get. Also, I didn't live with anyone full time I was in a relationship with the other two times. I moved in with my OH about a month before the last one was born so trying to juggle the relationship while dealing with all of the pregnancy hormones and stuff has made life ... interesting. We have talked recently, though, and I think he is likely to check more often before assuming something is wrong or I am just a bit out of control. His favorite phrase is becoming "hormones and parasite" when I start getting a little sideways.

Glad to hear your morning sickness has eased.

My ex husband and I split in early 2003 when my DS was 6. Although I started dating my OH later that year, we split in 2004 and didn't get back together until 2007. We remained friends the whole time and in 2008 I moved 50 miles to live closer to him.

In 2009 DS and I moved in with him and at times it has been quite a challenge. We're both strong willed and figure our own way is best - he's 45 and I'm 40. We still have two irons and ironing boards because we each reckon ours is best!

OH gets on very well with my DS who is now 14. Too well sometimes as I often feel outnumbered! I know that this baby will have lots of attention of his/her daddy and big brother and feel confident they'll share the load.

How is your eldest daughter with your youngest?

My oldest wanted a baby brother (and still does) but she adores her little sister. We normally only get to see her about twice a year for a total of eight to ten weeks because she still lives on the other side of the country. We talk on the phone regularly and the girls talk some, mostly Munchkin and Sissy back and forth as the little one doesn't say too much over the phone yet.

I told her that if this one was a girl, she was on her own for a boy. She said it wasn't the same and I said "I know". I wouldn't have to carry it (pregnancy) and could go home if it was hers. :)

Hi,
So excited to join this thread. I got my BFP on Sunday. I am 43 and will be 44 when baby arrives! :)

I'm Samantha and I will be 36'in June. I hve a 3 year old son who is very excited about having a brother or sister. This is my 3rd pregnancy, I lost one in january but knew from the start it didn't feel right. This pregnancy is like it was with my son. I am tired and so nauseous all the time.

Hi ladies

Some of you may know I had spotting over Easter weekend so had to go in for an emergency scan today. Apologies for the delay in updating, but there was no signal at the hospital.

Scan showed one healthy baby measuring 33mm and 2 days ahead of my dates. This puts me as due 22 November 2011 which makes me 10w 1d today. The sonographer couldn't see anything in-utero re spotting so they're putting it down as one of those things. I felt so relieved that I burst into tears on the table! The sonographer was lovely. She held my hand and was really sweet.

Baby is very much a wriggle-bottom. It just wouldn't keep still and, thankfully, is very, very active. We got to see little arms and feet, lots of heart-beating action and the umbilical cord.

Apologies for the quality. They're a photograph of the original scan photo taken with my iphone.

Thanks for your support ladies.

I know I shouldn't really be here as I don't have my BFP yet but I lurk as I love this thread as it keeps me positive for my BFP one day and

Pip I am so thrilled for you that the spotting was nothing and you have a healthy baby. Sending you loads of wishes that the rest of your pregnancy is healthy and happy :)

Fabulous photos! Really pleased that all is well and you got to meet your wriggle-bum! x

Yeah, Pip! Told you it would be good. :)

I'm going crazy on bed rest here myself. I has some red blood streaked cm yesterday and just went ahead and called the clinic. So bed rest, lots of fluids, and no sex for me. My regular appointment is Friday (in two days) so hopefully the Doctor will give me some time limits on that stuff. ;)

Other than that, I am feeling the baby move at times and we had a good heartbeat at the clinic. I am hoping it was just one of those things and we can get back to normal.

Poor you. At least the weather is rubbish so you're not missing much cooped up in the house.

I've not had nookie since before I got the :bfp: I've just felt so fatigued and nauseous that were I able to stay awake I'd have thrown up on him. Didn't help that I couldn't stand the smell of my OH ( and DS) for about a month!

Think I'll wait until second Tri before :sex: Just don't fancy it at the moment and don't want to risk another bleed.

Hi.. I am new to this site, I will be 40 in Sept and I just got my bfp at 9dpo, we got pregnant on our first month of ttc. I am so glad this is here as I worry about what ppl say about getting pregnant at this age. We are both healthy , I also have a 10 yr old son, it will be a first baby for my partner, he is 39 as well

Congratulations! It's great to read you story and I hope anyone lurking can see that getting pregnant straight away at 40 is possible.

:wohoo: for us mummies in our prime!
