Passed the baby today

to bfpsoon:

You could tell difference in the sac/baby from the large clots you were passing? I'm sorry to ask, but I started miscarrying yesterday and have passed about 10 huge (one really huge) clots....and I also have been anxiously examining them trying to determine if the baby is there. This is my 5th miscarriage and I've never experienced such severe pain or large clots before. My scan last week said I was 7 weeks (even though I think 9) and no heartbeat etc.... I'm going to be 42 in couple weeks and don't have any living children so it's incredibly depressing....as you well know.
anyways I just wondered if you can tell the difference between the actual sac w/baby and the large clots.
I'm sorry for what you're going through and completely understand

i know you weren't asking me, but I just found this thread, and I think I can answer your question. I had a miscarriage a week ago this past Thursday. I passed two bits of "tissue" which were completely different from all the clots. The first one was in the hospital Thursday night. It just looked like a flat-ish piece of pink, slightly lumpy tissue (sorry if this is TMI). On Sunday morning I passed a bigger lump of pink tissue, which was vaguely roundish in shape, and I *think* was the sack. I started miscarrying at 7 weeks 3 days. I bled for 7 days total and spotted for the 8th day, but after passing that large bit of tissue on Sunday morning, I no longer felt pregnant at all. Like my hormone levels had dropped dramatically by then, and I no longer had any pregnancy symptoms at all. I also had no more real cramping after that. Tomorrow morning is my follow up scan and I'm just hopeful that I have passed everything and do not need a D&C.

Anyway, I had to use an empty toilet roll to pull the sack out of the toilet to be sure. It definitely felt too large to be just a clot when it came out, but there was clotting with it, so you might not see it right away if it comes out on the loo. I'd imagine if it were on a pad, I'd have felt it, though. I'm really sorry for your loss, hon. I hope this helps you out.

Yes I could definitely tell the difference, I thought I had probably passed the baby the days before as I was passing huge black/dark red clots. But when I passed the sac/baby I could tell the difference. Firstly it was a greyish/skin fleshy colour and only way I can describe what it looked like was if you blew a big bubble with bubble gum and you know when it pops and looks deflated, thats exactly how the sac looked, I caught it on my Pad thankfully so I could have a close up look, I could even see the fetal pole and what looked like babies head.

I was almost 8 weeks when I lost it.

When I had a MC before at 5 weeks, it was just like a heavy period with clots and I couldn't see anything that I thought was the baby.

It depends how you feel about it, for some I should imagine its distressing to see, but for me it was closure. I knew then that my pregnancy was over and could say goodbye. It definitely helped the grieving process.

Big Hugs Darling

Hello all - sorry to everyone for their loss. I m/c'd starting this past Friday. Passing alot of clots over the last two days, heavy waves of bleeding at times, and signficant cramps. I"m not sure how long it's supposed to last either, I"m not sure if I passed all of it or not. Sounds like, on average, it takes about a week to complete the process. It seems to be taking forever, looking forward to when this is over.

Sorry for all your losses and the heart ache and pain you are all going through. I have had absolutely no support off my ex boyfriend my sons dad and he was also the babies dad of my 2nd pregnancy which sadly ended in a mc.

I go for my scan tomorrow to check everything has come away ok I will be glad when its over and done with to be honest just so I know everythings ok and I think it will be more real tomorrow because last week i saw a fetal ... I know the baby stopped growing with no hb but the baby still looked like a perfect blob/baby.

Tomorrow I wont see anything! But I just want to know everything is ok and I can still have children in the future.

:hugs: to you all xxxxxx

:( I'm sorry, but I'm also glad that you were able to naturally miscarry without any medical intervention. I'm so sorry for your loss :hugs:
