Personal Question- Hemorrhoid/skin tag removal?

Good Luck, that's exciting! I hope everything goes well with the home birth!

And yep, talked to the doctor today, and he ended up having to do the full hemorrhoidectomy after he got in there on one part.... lovely! =( just what we thought

That's actually good news though, at least he did it when he saw he needed to rather than setting another time. It also means that the pain level is right for what he did (although more warning would have been nice!) Banding doesn't always work so you could have just saved yourself having to go back again. Now just take your time to recover, use the painkillers you're given and you'll really notice the different when you're healed! xx

well, i guess that's one way to look at it. Was your pain constant, or did it come in spurts? Yesterday I had a real good day- then when I had to go to the bathroom is knocked me on a killer pain spree for about 4 hours. =( It's just crazy to me how I can feel fine for hours and then all the sudden have excruciating pain for just as many hours that I can't get relief from. I told my husband this surgery should be illegal. or at least they should have a better way to go about it with all the technology we have these days. and it was done totally outpatient. I feel like I needed to spend 4 days there fully sedated if I could have.

The pain was constant for the first couple of days. Then it would be okay until I went to the toilet where it would sting so bad I would cry for 10 minutes until it started to ease. That lasted for at least a week, maybe more. I do seriously wonder with all the technology there is why this is so severe.
I would leave a small bath of fresh warm water at all times so that as soon as you go then you can sit in the bath.
I'm surprised yours was outpatient, I only spent one night in but I was doped up to my eyeballs luckily! If you do still feel bad after a week then make sure you get checked out. I had to be readmitted a week later for a blood transfusion as I lost that much when I was finally able to go to the toilet. I had to push them to check me though, they kept insisting that it was normal to be in that much pain from that op.

You have described me to a T!!! with having the bath water and all. Today is the first day with no tears, and no soaking on the bath (other than the 2:30am 2 hour bath..) but since then I've been good today! and it's day 5 today. I'm hoping this is the turn around point where I'm starting to feel some better. I shouldn't need a transfusion but man, I can totally see how that would be an issue.

I know this thread is old, did you have the surgery done? I wanted to share my experience in case anyone out there stumbles across this. I had a fairly large skin (at least felt that way to me) after delivery, leftover from a hemorrhoid during pregnancy I guess. I went to a specialist who did some banding, of course that didn't solve my skin tag problem. Let me clarify by saying mine wasn't the traditional skin tag, small piece of skin on a stalk, mine was more like stretched skin right on the verge of my hole (sorry TMI!). After doing lots of research online, I found a board certified colorectal surgeon and he removed it in his office. There was a shot of numbing and he cut it off with scissors, afterwards there was some swelling and pain but really not too bad at all. I was somewhat disappointed with the results, however, because I still have some excess skin there albeit not nearly as bad as before but it is there. I was hoping it would be smooth and back to normal. I have been back to see him a couple of times since it has healed and he assures me that it's normal and so tiny it's barely noticeable. Now to me it feels huge and can make life uncomfortable, probably because of the sensitivity of the area. So debating on getting a second opinion, heard good things about laser removal but there is just not a lot of information out there. Not sure if I should seek out a dermatologist or what, also kind of embarrassed to be calling around and asking lol. Anyway, that's my story! Would love to know how yours turned out!
