Well i created the group as this thread was so popular and then i asked if we could have the thread moved over and it came over seperately instead of being joined together.

Ok then what do you lot think of the nikon D40? Ive found one brand new for £250 my budget isnt massive and im not sure how good at it im going to be. I would rather a D60 but its £360 in Jessops thats £110 more than the D50. Will the D40 be ok for me to grow in to?

Yeah hun i've jumped from a small camera straigh to an SLR and im managing fine, i find the more you fiddle around experimenting etc the more you get to know your camera :) gd luck xx

I think the D40 is a great DSLR to learn on - it's a really good entry-level model that should serve you well :)

heres some of my faves i took x x x x

Great idea ladies!! I am fairly new to photography! I just started going picture taking nuts when my LO was born! I take about 100 pictures a day now!
I actually have a very cheap (about 300$) Kodak extended zoom camera which I LOOOVE! my MIL bought me an SLR for Christmas I'm scared to pull it out...so many buttons I don't even know where to start

pinkmac85, there are some great books out there to teach you how to use your DSLR - try a search on amazon for your slr model :) When I got my 1st SLR 2 years ago, I bought one and it really helped.

Ooo thats a good idea :happydance: Thanks!! :D

I found the "for dummies" books did exactly what they said they would. :winkwink:
and don't be scared of pressing buttons just to see what happens... there's always a "reset" button that will fix it again when you're done! :yipee:

edit:  that sounds really cheeky actually.... meant it more as a reflection on me than you :blush

My OH mentioned one of the for dummie books and I got so mad at him thinking he was calling me dumb  poor guy LOL
