I just want to get into it as a hobby really. Start learning how to use all the settings take picture of pretty much everything.

nice one! in which case year i'd recommend the D40.
I started off on a beginners course at a college one night a week just about to finish the end of the first year!

aflight84, I'm going to Edinburgh University and I'll be studying Photography and Film :) I can't wait. and thanks so much for the Kind wishes for Braden.

Emma, the D40 is a great little camera. I loved it, Would you like me to post some pictures I have taken with the D40 so you can get an Idea of quality etc hun?

oh cool is that a full time or part time course? I'm currently doing evening classes and hoping to get on the advanced class for september. I've already joined a private portrait group and i'm about to sign up to a saturday group too
photography takes over your life! hehe

That would be great thanks!! They dont sell them in jessops anymore :( Ill have to look in other shops.

Its a full time course :) So I'll be nanny hunting for Braden, But it will be worth it, the year I finish we are hopefully *fingers crossed* Moving out to the states, my Parents are moving out there for my dads work, but i'm thinking me and Braden may move out there perminantly. I have family there as its where my mum is originally from. So hopefully, I can find a good Photography career out there.

Awww CallieBert I LOVE your pictures, they are all adorable children, the one of the dog is so cute :D x

Wow they are great pictures hun!!! The last one is gorgeous. Does it have an effect on it or is that just from the camera itself? Reason i ask a friend of mine took some pictures of benn when he was younger and id love to know how she got them to look the way she did when she'd just took them when we was dossing about the house lol. I might be gettin myself down to curries tomorrow then lol.

yeah i know what you mean hubby gets the hump some days as i come home from college then i'm on the computer till silly o'clock i sware if he couldn't see the pictures he'd think i'm having an affair haha

you can get filters to adjust the picture when you take it or you can edit it afterwards with things like photoshop

LMAO - Yeah it takes time :)

Emma - There are different settings on the camera that you can use, good thing about the D40, and most Nikons is there is a ''child setting'' which is good for the likes of us who like to snap pics of this kiddies. I tend to do it manually but the automatic settings are great when your in a rush to snap one. The effects are because I process mine in photoshop, you dont need to do that, i mean photos on the D40 are great in themselves, but processing them sometimes makes them a little better. The one of my 2 nieces on the beach in the pictures i just posted, arent processed, so thats how pictures will turn out straight from the camera :)

i want to learn more about photoshop - i've bought elements 7 but have no idea where to start - any hints ladies?

Calibert - your photos are amazing x how do you get the little girls eyes to have so much reflection in them??? x really makes the photograph x
