I've been playing with my camera loads over the past few days - gotta do something to stop being bored! Anyway, I wanted to show you all a couple. My cats are usually my victims I think I've gone a bit overboard on how many pics I'm showing you but the cats are so cute - it would be wrong not to share how cute they are!

hello....just found this thread!!! i LOVE taking pics.....and have just ordered my very first digital SLR. its the Canon 500D.....i just know for a fact when it gets here im not gun have a clue how to use it!! lol

im usually point n shoot with a crappy little digital camera i have....not taking any amazing pics....but any advice u have for me with my new camera wud b great!!! i cant wait for it to get here!!

They are great hun, Canons are pretty easy to use
You should be okay with it, any problems I'll try and help

Enjoy taking pics of you little one with your SLR because you can capture some amazing moods and take beautiful pictures of art with kids as your subject

ive heard sun light is the best light u can get? all i have is the camera....dont have backgrounds, lighting etc!!! and it comes with a 18-55mm lens.....WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN!!???

the best sunlight is in the morning and evening...during the day its normally to harsh for good pictures...unless its cloudy

you can get backgrounds just from simple things like a black piece of material, white sheet ect: i would also reccomend a flash maybe!!

18-55mm lens. the 18 is how wide it goes and the 55 is how far it will zoom. but beware the lens suffers from severe distortion (i have this lens) if you take a picture of the window frame and you will see the frame is bent

but mmmmmmmm nice camera...im jealous much x

The lense, is adaptable, you can change it according to the images you take. Its basically to zoom in and out etc but you get good, and not so good quality ones, they impact on the end quality of you image. 18-55 lense is pretty good for your first camera, mine was smaller than that I think.

They can cost up to £7,000 if you become really serious about it. I just got a new Circular Fisheye lense. I looove it. its amazing.

really!!! how come it bends??? im soooooo cluless to this!!! i almsot bought the 50D...but this one came out n said it was abit more user friendly so opted for the 500d!!

i have to say chel27 u n ur OH's pics are beyond AMAZING

i know i like taking pics....but dont know if i love it that much lol

i have a hell of a lot to learn put it that way!!
its mostly coz i make celebration cakes n just want more professional looking pics......and the fact i ahve a cute kiddie and one on the way!!! i want to take as many as possible....i just LOVE pictures!

yea it does because its cheap elements of glass in the lens ( i made this mistake to) they are just basic kit lens!!! (unless your great at photoshop)

yes the 500d i think would be more user friendly....although if i had choice i would get the 40d (we currently have the 450d)

if you go to dpreview.com it reviews every camera on that site and is worth looking at.

aww thanks hun...i have to say my OH is much better than me but i am getting there....all this talk of cameras makes me want to take some pictures tonight

i think u are equal in ur work......u both have different ways of taking ur pics n ur equally as talented. i wish i could take pics like that put it that way!

i have photoshop CS3....but clueless to using that too lol...only used it for making my sig LMAO

calliebert......utterly cute!!! i love the way the background is blurred in the first pic....i cant do that with my normal digital camera. i get too much detail on the pics when id rather have it blurred!

Yeah I use selective focus on near enough all my pictures, it just gives them a much more professional look

No the camera will do it for you, Not sure on the canons, but if your doing it manually Theres a cursor on the screen which you move to the area you want the focus on, and it will do focus it. Or if your using automatic settings, it will do it for you.

awww thanks hun...we do have different styles in our work!!! we have photoshop cs2 and adobe lightroom and to be honest i literally mucked around with a few pictures and found out what looked best when using photoshop...its always better to just be hands on and see what you can produce. its great fun!!! and you will also create wonderfull pictures if you fiddle around with your camera and the settings. i have only myself been interested in photography for few years now but everywhere i go/ whatever i see there is an oppourtunity for a picture xx

i love the pics of the streams....but they make the water look like fog!! how do u do that?
