Photography Club

I just want to know the basics cropping etc. I want to learn about the camera first before photoshop. Ive always wanted to know what my friend did to that picture to make my little man look so cute lol.

In my humble opinion, that's the best way to learn :)

I cant wait to find my niche and what i enjoy snapping the most. I so hope i get good at it. This post has got me more excited than ever lol.

It's sure got me excited to take new photos! My loves are landscape and still life - but I'm now trying to teach myself to take portraits since Alyssa was born. I've not gone on a shoot since early October, and have hardly had time or energy to use my cameras while I was pregnant. I have a tabletop "studio" set up in a corner of our study - there are some gorgeous bluebells in our garden I'm itching to snap! Would do something similar to this with them:

My early portrait attempts:

Anna they are fantastic! How long have you been doing it for? Ive just been sat here showing my OH the pictures on here that were taken with the d40 and his excited now. Currys best have some in thats all i can say. If they dont do you think the d60 will be ok its alot of money to spend dont want to get OH spending all that money and its the wrong camera.

Thank you  I've been taking photos for 4 years now, but only doing it as a serious hobby for the last 3.

The D60 would be an equally brilliant camera; just be sure you like the feel of it in your hands before buying :) These days, there's no such thing as a bad DSLR.

Yeh i will for defo. Ive already held the d40 a few times and its nice and small to fit my hands it felt really nice. Right i must go to bed im shattered and im ment to be a bridesmaid on friday ill be looking like a panda lol. Thanks for the advice :) hopefully when i post on here tomoz ill be a dslr owner lol.

Hope you are too! Will be checking the thread to find out :)

I'm off back to bed now with a fed and sleepy baby. Night!

Right, I'm off out for a few hours. I'm armed with my camera, so I'll see what I can snap along the way. Hope there's a few more pages of inspiration on here by the time I return!

Oooooh how exciting for those who are getting new cameras – make sure you let us know how you get on with them.

I am just waiting till I’ve been on this one day course to teach me how to use my Canon 40d and then I will hopefully look at investing in some bits and bobs for it. I have got my eye on a massive set of different filters on Ebay at the moment, I’d definitely like a macro lens and I need a tripod too.

I might look into joining Red Bubble over the weekend – thanks for that link Tigger.

I would definitely be up for a Photography group meet / shooting day if anyone else was :)

For those experienced photographers with an SLR – I am going to a wedding in Italy in July and I want to take my SLR with me to try and get some pictures. How would you suggest I transport it? I have a camera bag but most airplanes will only allow you one bag for hand luggage and I would need something for all my personal bits as I couldn’t fit them all in my camera bag because it isn’t big enough. Any ideas gratefully welcomed.

Being the model is funnn Aflight! :)
I have just got my pregnancy photoshoot processed, i'll upload some pictures soon, but it was fun

oh really i'd love to see. I've had a couple of sessions done with a professional but not infront of fellow students i'm not looking forward i must admit! haha
