Photoshop!

Photoshop CS4 is the newest one.

I have CS3

I hae CS2, although I've used elements before too and it's a little more user friendly :)

I have elements 6 at home but use CS3 extended at work x although only know how to cut out images on CS3 because thats all i use it for at work lol

oh man I have had SO much fun doing this!

Stardust, thanks SO SO SO much for talking me through it. Here are some very basic black and white doodahs. I have NO IDEA how you do all the fancy brush-strokes or that beautiful pegasus but I am mighty impressed!

A small selection:

they are fab... how do you keep some of it colour??

always wondered how to do this?

xx

You select the photo, copy it, turn the photo to black and white then 'paste' the colour copy on top.

Then just go over with the eraser on the colour photo. Anything you erase will end up black and white.

So with that last photo, all that was left of the 'colour' layer was the lamp. The pool etc behind were all erased. It was quite tricky with the purple flower as it was so fiddly but it just looks so effective!

I haven't figured out how to tweak colours using this program yet but Pickle's (the cat's) eyes could use a bit more pop...

Or you could go the easy way and put the b&w on top and erase the parts you like coloured

And also to tweak colours you just click down the bottom on the black and white circle and hit either hue and Saturation or brightness and contrast. :)

I don't have photoshop. I'm a Paint Shop Pro person myself but since there's on a psp thread. Do you mind if I hang out here. I do a lot of photo retouching and restoration (Especially for angel parents) and I do a lot of graphic work and just general photo editing) Here's a sample of some of the stuff I do

My friend done this for me for my 18th Birthday invitations as I wanted it like a 'hed kandi' poster that they have for night clubs.

What do you guys think about a bit of a challenge?

I'll post some pictures up, and you do whatever you like with them. :) Not a competition, just something fun for us all to try :)
