Piercing baby's ears

In the shop We Will not do a piercing on a child under the age of three

Where do you work? Is it a large high-street chain? Also, do you ask for ID of the child to check his/her age beforehand? Just curious

I work in a tattooists up in camden (london) we do I.d people its allways fun to ask people for ID and ask men if there is any chance they are pregnant or breast feeding hahah you should see the looks we get :happydance::thumbup::haha:

Okay, just checking to see if it was a large chain which I should avoid asking the question "do you pierce baby's ears?" to, since I'd already had the answer :haha: I'd love to get a tattoo but I'm only 17, and I'll be breastfeeding at the point of my 18th birthday!

aww its ok breastfeeding is fine we just need to know because of the slight risk of clots and contamination and so on .... fun legal reasons lol :dohh:

Haha! I always thought the general advice was not to get a tattoo if breastfeeding? Maybe I heard wrong! :flower:

ear piercing is so common here that my daughter is confused for a boy just because we chose not to have hers pierced at birth. She can walk around in head to toe pink, but people look at her ears, see she has no earrings, and tell us what a handsome young man we have :dohh: It does annoy me because sometimes it seems to imply that what makes you a little girl here is to have your ears pierced, but I know it's just that all the others do, so it's really unusual to have a girl without pierced ears.

I had my ears done when I was 10, and they got infected so I had them redone when I was 13. I don't want my LO to have her ears done when she's a baby or a toddler, simply because those that pierced their kids' ears were looked down upon in the area where we lived (which is not where I live now). I'm not saying I think the same; I'm saying I don't like the look of it, personally.

I know we will face a barrage of demands when our daugghter is old enough to realise that all her friends have their ears pierced and she doesn't, because she will want them done herself. We've agreed that when she can look after them herself (i.e. clean them after they're pierced etc) then she can have them pierced. Before then, they remain unpierced.

We had my little sisters pierced on her first birthday. is almost four and absolutely loves them, doesn't remember the pain at all. x

TBH now days it's the young teenage mums, common people and chav's who piece their babies ears

I'm a young mum, excuse me while I rush out to pierce my daughters ears.... Not. How rude.

I wish my mum hadn't pierced my ears as a baby, Can't recall what happened but thanks to her, I have 1 hole in 1 ear, and 2 in the other, which aren't symmetrical at all so I look odd with earrings.

I got my ears pierced when I was 3 because I asked to and they got infected because I played with them too much. I got them re-pierced again when I was 16 or 17. I would have rather had them pierced as a baby, where I had no access to play with them, and wouldn't remember the pain.

The little girl I nanny got hers done at 8 months and she didn't ever play with them. I cleaned them twice a day no problem.

When I have kids, my girls will be getting their ears pierced as soon as they are old enough (which I thought was at 6months old)
