Piercing baby's ears

Wow! Sort of skimmed the last few pages & I must say this thread got a little out of hand. Most replies I've ever gotten on a post LOL

Either way, thanks all who ANSWERED my question!! Sounds like little miss will get her earrings sometime after her 1st shots & I should steer clear of Claires if possible!

Will post pics of the princess, earrings & all... If she ever arrives!

Have a great night all :)

i agree with not going to claire's! of al 4 sets i have in MY ears, one was done at claire's and they are uneven :(

i hear the babies pediatrician's do it...thats where i will have mine done if my dr's do it!

Satine, you can't say that here!!! It's naughty and not wanted :p there's a bit in the debates section for ppl to give opinions x
Sorry, I didn't mean to offend anyone! :flower:

Here in the US you have to wait till baby goes in for her 2 month check up it is required that she gets her second set of shots because one of them is to help fight off infection! The reason I know this is because my daughter will be 6 weeks on Tuesday and I called her doctor and asked and I called the place i would be taking her as well and they told me the same thing...

I know, and most of these threads that get a bit heated are from people against it!! I know we all like to express our opinions though, but I'm not sure it will change anybody's minds when its really no big deal either way.

i got my ears peirced when i was about 2 months old i think, and I asked hubby yesterday...how would u feel about getting the babies ears peirced after a few months? he said he was a. worried about metal in their little bodies, but he said as long as it was safe and we could ask doc it sounded good.

Another thing he mentioned to me , in which i never looked at it this way, was waiting til the lil girl was a few years old. Reason being is so she can "remember" when she got her ears pierced. I thought that was such a cute idea....like how excited would u be to be 4/5 and get ur ears pierced and they look all sparkly! I think If i have a girl Im going to wait, just to see her excitement :)

Whatever you decide , I bet she will look adorable anyways with those genes!!!

My daughter had her ears done in claires, she was 14 months. They done a lovely job and it was real quick. Both ears the same time, in line and she winced for a min as soon as she seen a lolly pop she was back to herself. You have to make sure thier clean though and getting a child to sit still at that age wasn't easy I must say! x

i live in texas and i got my daughters done at 2mths also. we had it done at walmart, she kinda winced but that was it. i would make sure tho hun to get sterling silver or 14kt. gold or better depending on your preference, due to thier bodies being so sensitive. the lady that showed the pic of the stud earrings with the backing that you screw on and is round had a great bit of info! thats what we got and they never irritated her and she never messed with them. caring for it is easy also, you will see the occasional crusties which i still get sometimes and my ears have been pierced for 29yrs, but as long as you clean them and turn them every day she will do fine. my girl did great with earrings till she was 5yrs old...my ex husband and i split up, and when she was in new mexico with him he bought her some cheap metal hoop earrings and it got infected...she was mad too bcuz she loved wearing earrings. hope that helps :)

I had mine done at 4 and I remember it sooo clearly. I was so proud to have them done! I didn't cry and the pain wasn't bad. I was excited to show them off to everyone at school too. :flower:

I had mine done when I was 3. With my daughter she was 5, we asked if she would like to have them done, took her to see others having them done first and let her make the choice. I have nothing against having them done early, its personal choice and I don't think anyone should be judged for that. There is a lot worse a parent could be doing to their child

I can't for the life of me understand why this always turns into such a heated argument. And I say argument because there are very rarely responses that would qualify in any kind of debate.

It's a personal choice, if a person wants to have it done as early as possible to avoid the baby playing with their ears and are willing to make sure they are taken care of properly - why would it matter to anyone else?

There will always be people who insist on imposing their own views and opinions on others even when it's flat out none of their business. I especially find it amusing when they toss around words like mutilate/torture etc etc, because ear piercing is such a mutilation ./eyeroll

If you don't like the way it looks, don't have your child done - doesn't mean you need to start with name calling and childish behavior towards those who WILL have it done. Get over it, agree to disagree and move on - save the world some other way

My DD doesn't have her ears pierced and she won't be getting them done until she old enough to ask for them and understand they need looking after and that it WILL hurt when it's done.

I can't comprehend why anyone would put their tiny little baby through it :nope:.. Of course it's to each their own but it is beyond me why anyone would do it without their being a need to

My mum had my ears pierced when I was about 6 months old. I don't remember a thing. Didn't hurt me :)

Where do you work? Is it a large high-street chain? Also, do you ask for ID of the child to check his/her age beforehand? Just curious

My dd had hers done two days ago...shes 10 i made the decision that i would let her decide when she wanted them done and its taken 10 years lol...shes so happy...was a little nervous but it didnt hurt her. Shes being so grown up cleaning them herself with the cleaning solution. Im having another girl and i will do the same again and as soon as she wants them done she can. Everyone else in my family have had their little girls ears done when they were babies i dont think its wrong just personal preference x

Okay, just checking to see if it was a large chain which I should avoid asking the question "do you pierce baby's ears?" to, since I'd already had the answer :haha: I'd love to get a tattoo but I'm only 17, and I'll be breastfeeding at the point of my 18th birthday!
