play pen or no play pen

We have a pack n play and a play yard gate.. P&P has a raised thing for a bassinet.. It's the only thing LO would sleep in when she was really little. She hated her actual bassinet. So its already been worth it.. She didn't spend too long in it once she was mobile though, so we use it as a ball pit right now. And will be taking it on vacation with us for her to sleep in.

She also hates the play yard gate, but we have found another use for that as well, we use it to block off the stone around our fireplace.. So either way I don't think it was a total waste of money!

We are going through the same thing with our dd and we have tiled floor :0 we were in John Lewis and they had the Lindam pens with cushioned mat inside / which also can be used as long safty gate for around fires etc, it was £56 bargain as I've seen them for £99 everywhere I've looked. Well worth the money dd loves it and I can relax and do washing cleaning and know she's safe :)

We recently bought one bc it's been very hot lately and we only have an Air conditioner in the living room & bedroom gets ungodly hot. Anyways! We all sleep in the living room for now so he goes in there..until he comes in with us. Besides that OH puts him in there while he cleans the house but I never have. Mostly bc I never really think about it lol

We used one when DD learned to crawl as she has always been a climber. She wouldn't have been safe if left unconfined! She was always happy in it though, especially when I put Mr Tumble on the TV! She was never in it for long, just while I nipped to the loo or showered etc. It kept her safe and that's all I wanted. My house has wooden and tiled floors and the kitchen has the Aga in it so I didn't feel happy about her crawling where she might get hurt. She was happy chilling in there until about about 18 months when I came downstairs one day (after nipping up to sort washing out) and found her eating cat food in the downstairs loo. She'd climbed out of the playpen and was very pleased with herself :)

I have one which I've just started using for short periods. I have a Greyhound who although brilliant with her, doesn't always look where he's walking. Plus it's so handy to have somewhere safe to put her while I do something quick like go to the toilet.

I can see why people use them, especially when there are pets involved, but for us I've never needed one, I just leave her somewhere safe or let her have free roam in the knowledge there's nothing chokable/breakable etc in reach, we also have tiled floors. Plus I think willow would go mental if I put her in one for more than 25 seconds!
