I have just now switched to C&G comfort becasue the HV said to this morning. She said it would be thick. It's NOT thick and is still watery like the aptamil comfort I had her on which we were told to stop using cos it was watery when we made it up. She seems to struggling with pooing but isnt sicky - is it poss she is allergic to milk? And if she is what does everyone sugest I try her on? Its driving me mad in 4 days Ive had about 6 hours sleep. Im exhausted.

When ever we feed she thrashes around on the bottle and screams liek mad/ crys after and during. :-(

We had this, but a change from Aptamil to C&G sorted her out.

If a change of formula hasn't helped, maybe she has silent reflux?

This sounds like silent reflux hun. Silent reflux causes discomfort as LO has acid in their throat which burns them. The thicker the feed the better. My LO is currenlty on SMA Staydown and its brilliant x

It could be worth trying some infant gaviscon too. My MW told me to buy some and if it made a difference to speak to my GP to get it on prescription.

Infant gaviscon is rubbish imoand the cheapest option for your GP to give. And full of salt. If you want to use a feed thickener then carobel is better.

Thanks everyone. What's carobel? The cow and gate im using is still watery.......like the aptamil comfort I was using but batches bought from the same shop ASDA.....wandering if there is something wrong with all the batches sent to this particular store? Also - where can I get carobel and how do I use it? She is only 9 days old.

When we used C&G Comfort we had to switch to the next size teat, so it shouldn't be runny. SMA Staydown is even thicker again - we had to change to variflow teats when we tried that one!

Carobel is made by cow and gate. You put it in the milk to thicken it. You can get it from chemists or from your GP. It is good but i switched to SMA Staydown as it was perfect for LO.. It basically works the same way. Keeps contents of the stomach down to stop the acid rising and burning their throat. I get the SMA Staydown on prescription but bought it from ASDA to try it out 1st x

I know it's a totally diff suggestion to what the other ladies are saying but for me it was a change in bottles!!! We did swap formula too but not to comfort, just switched from aptamil to cow&gate and from TT CTN bottles to avent. The TT bottles gave him so much wind it hurt him and he wud scream through every feed and fight it. With the avent bottles he is much better

Xx

Sounds like silent reflux to me...although....baby us far from silent. How is the baby sleeping? Reflux babies are at their most discomfort while laying flat. Good luck
