Ok I need everyone's help. As you can see from my siggy below, I had my 2nd IUI last week. I also met w/ RE for another consult. He said both DH & I are perfect and on paper we should be pregnant!! He said hopefully this IUI gives me a :bfp: and I won't have to worry about anything else! Amen!! But, if it fails then I have 2 options: I can get a lap OR add Follistim injections to my Femara/Trigger/IUI. He said I have no signs of endo at all. I told him that often I have some pain during BD but he said that didn't seem to him to pose a problem. I'm producing mature eggs every cycle. He said it is TOTALLY up to me with what I choose to do.

So do you all think I should get a lap or move to injections? (re: I have unexplained infertility.)

Thanks everyone!!! And I hope we all get our :bfp:s!!

Personally i'd go with the lap. What other testing have you had? What testing has your DH had? Another good idea might be to get the full spermie tests done (SASA) checking for DNA damage etc.

I know of a girl who was unexplained and she demanded a SASA test and it turns out her DH had anti sperm antibodies so they then got their reason and had to go straight to IVF/ICSI. Not saying that will happen to you, but its best to get ALL tests done so that if you did have to say move onto IVF then it would save useless IUI attempts if that makes sense?

Wishing you loads of luck!

hmmm... that really is a decision only you and your DH can make. I did the Follistim injections when I did my first IUI (and will probably do the same on my next IUI) but I don't really know enough about a lap. to give you my honest opinion.

Have you had a lap done before?
If not then i would probably go with that option to rule anything else out.

No I have never had a lap done before. My only concern is what I've heard of scar tissue after the surgery. Have you heard of that?

What exactly is a SASA? DH has gotten 4 SAs done: from my obgyn, a urologist, and 2 REs. The very first SA he had low morphology but urologist wasn't concerned. Well just as a precaution DH had surgery to remove a variocele. His morphology has been perfect since and his count has always been extremely high. For the SASA does he just go in and do the same thing he always does? They just test additionally for DNA defects? I'm wondering if my RE did one already but I have no idea.

As for me, I have had CD 3 bloodwork and my hormone levels are perfect they say. I had an HSG and both tubes were clear. On clomid I produced mature eggs (normally 1 but a few times 2). I am responding very well to Femara. 1st IUI I had 2 follies at 18.5 & 17.0. My IUI last week I had 3 at 18.0, 16.0, & 15.0. I always have EWCM around ovulation. My concern is if I'm producing nice eggs on Femara why would the Follistim work any different. I may have a few more eggs and I guess that increases the chances of 1 of them fertilizing?

Thanks so much!

Thank you. I know that nobody can decide for me but I appreciate you responding. It's so hard to make a decision about this!!! I pray and pray that I don't have to make the decision and I get a BFP from last week's IUI!!

Nope ive not heard of that at all.
Ive had a lap done and the scars are very minimal, i really dont think they would affect things

If you are ovulating fine with your current injections, what will adding Follstim do for you? There shouldn't be any scar tissue when doing a lap. They just want to take a camera and peek at your uterus. Is there a reason why they want to do a lap? What are they checking for?

I am not currently on injections and I never have been. I am on Femara which is a pill similar to clomid. Dh and I perfectly normal. RE just said it was totally up to me what I want to do if this IUI cycle doesn't work: I can add Follistim injections to the Femara/trigger/IUI OR I can get a lap just to rule everything out. I just pray and pray I don't have to make the decision at all.

If your tubes are clear and there is no suspected problem with your uterus I dont really see the point of a lap, so I'd go with the injections.

I just wanted to tell you all that my 2nd IUI was a BFN.. I originally was overly disappointed and really a basket case, but I'm trying to be hopeful now and looking forward to my next step. I have chosen to get the lap done as my next step. I will have the surgery within the next 2 weeks. Thanks for all you advice/support
