Poorly 10 month Old Advice Please!! UPDATE PAGE 2

What a terrible thing to go through. So sorry you are all going through this. It's disgusting that the hospital sent you home and didn't pick up on it. Hope you and your lo are home soon and that lo makes a speedy recovery x

Oh my goodness- how terrible :hugs: and shocking that you were sent home!! I'm so, so sorry you have all been through this. I knew about the condition (it is a risk with the rotavirus jab, right?) but had no idea that green sick and blood were symptoms. I hope I never know anyone to have it, but great to have the information just in case.

You are very right about trusting your instincts :flower: my OH makes fun of me for googling medical stuff... But it goes to show how you can and do diagnose things quicker than doctors do.

Wishing you lots of healing and a quick recovery :flower:

This is horrifying. Thank God he has mummy like you. Poor poor little guy - I am so glad someone actually took you seriously in the end and he has been treated. He will hopefully be fine now they know what it is. Utterly ridiculous that nobody even thought of it sooner! Babies can f***ing die!!!!

My OH tells me off for googling things but im so glad I did. The doctor did ask if he had recently had any immunisations when we got to st thomas as he said that sometimes that can cause it. X

Your little man is very lucky to have a clever mummy :)

I'm glad you updated here, too. Hopefully it can help someone else in the future. :flower:

Omg you poor things.

You are such a good mum :) I hope your LO is feeling okay and will get better soon.

Ill keep you all in my thoughts. xo

The air procedure didnt work as his bowel went back into the same position. They have just taken him to theatre for surgery. They will most probably have too remove a little part of his bowel. My OH went home as we leave a few hours from this hospital so im sat here all on my own. They let me stay with him while they put him too sleep. I am so worried. X

I am so sorry to hear that your little boy is having to have surgery. Thoughts and prayers are with you and I'm sure he will be back with you in no time.

It is unbelievable how your local hospital treated you and your son, thank God they had one doctor on the ball, I'm just sorry it took so long. You must be exhausted. Hugs to you xxxx

Big hugs :hugs: I'm so sorry he has needed the surgery. These little babies are so resilient- I hope he is bouncing around in no time. Thinking of you all :flower:

I'm so sorry he needs surgery. But glad hes in a safe place. Hope your oh is back to surpport you soon.

Oh my goodness that is awful:hugs:
I hope surgery goes well and your little man feels better soon, I would definitely be putting in a severe complaint- your hospital should not have missed this!
Sending love and hugs to you all xxx

we are back on the ward now. They removed 5cm of his bowel and stitched back together. He is in a lot of pain. Its heartbreaking too watch. Everytime he stirs his heart rate goes through the roof which sets his alarm off. Im a nervous wreck.

Oh my God. I, too, would put in a serious complaint. I would be FUMING if this happened to my child. Their incompetence could kill another baby. This is unbelievable.

I'm so sorry you've been through this. I'd also put in a complaint. I can't believe they sent you home? Heartbreaking that your lo was in so much pain:( but thank God he's getting proper care now.

Thought I would update. He has been in so much pain today its been awful. They were going too admit us too intensive care but they worked out he was having bladder spasms so they have given him meds for that which help settle him for a while. He is very hungry but im not allowed too feed him so he gets very agitated and his heart rate goes Sky High. My OH brought my two older boys with him today too see us as we were all missing each other so much as we hadnt seen each other since friday morning. X

Poor little thing :( hopefully some family time will recharge you all :hugs:

:hugs: poor little thing, that's terrible how you have been treated but sadly I well believe it. Ensure a copy of his notes when you leave and you can contact PALS at original hospital. I hope he will be feeling better soon, it's awful watching them so young going through it as they can't speak up or comprehend properly

Hope you are getting a chance to care for yourself with expressing etc so you are not uncomfortable x

How is he now?

I just read the whole thread. Your poor little man. I can only imagine how scary it has been for you and how stressed and tired you must be. Can your OH or someone sit with your baby for a while so you can get some sleep? Hopefully you have had the chance of a rest by now.

We went through the scare of blood in poo. In our case it was only a small amount and turned out to be caused by food allergies.I too found google invaluable :).

Gosh you poor things Hope he starts feeling better soon. :hugs:

Hi they gave him some extra pain meds today which have made him very sleepy but they wanted him too have a restful day too help him recover. He was in pain last night so they did an ultrasound on him too check that the problem hadnt come back. It hadnt but the left side of his bowel has gone too sleep which isnt uncommon after surgery on the bowel as it doesnt like being handled. He has been trumping today which they said is a good sign. Im still not allowed too feed him for a while so I have been pumping around the clock and they have been freezing it for me. I just cant believe how he went from being well too this. Watching him lay on the bed in pain is heartbreaking. x
