Hi all,

I've been off and on these message boards for about 6 months now because to be brutally honest, sometimes they help and sometimes they don't.

I do love the idea of seeking the support of others going through what I'm going through, but often times I feel as though I spend too much time dwelling miserably on it, and reading posts only perpetuates that dwelling.

In any sense, I had an HSG done yesterday. Mother of God, did it hurt. I'm not going to lie. I cried.

In any sense, all my testing is done now and it's a matter of deciding whether I want to explore assisted reproduction options.

All of my blood work has come back normal. A CD 3 ultrasound did reveal that I only have 7 follicles on the left and 9 on the right, which supposedly is a bit less than a "normal" 31 year old. But the HSG showed that my tubes are clear.

My husband and I have been trying to conceive for about 15 months now, using OPK tests for 5 months.

Neither one of us are really crazy about the idea of accepting any kind of assistance, Clomid, IUI, IVF. It all just seems SO overwhelming. On the other hand, our desire to start a family grows more intense every day and TTC is really taking a toll on my emotions in particular.

I don't really have a question, but just looking for folks who are willing to listen to each other and provide support.

Baby Dust to All! Thanks for reading!

Hello

I've had an hsg done after 16 months ttc and got my bfp that same cycle AND it showed I had a blocked tube!
Unfortunately I lost my baby and now im on clomid.
I think a hsg is fab for clearing tubes and may bring u the luck u need! Make sure u do your opks and dtd lots this cycle.

Good luck xxx

I tried for 17 months with my second and no joy. Then I had the HSG! Following month I was pregnant'!! I truly believe the HSG cleared some cobwebs in there.

Has your hubby had a semen analysis?

Honestly, do not give up! I conceived my first child in a month and the second needed a bit of help.

It WILL happen xxx

Hello. I had my hsg 3 weeks ago and mine was very painful also. I almost passed out on the table and begged them to please stop. It did show that my only tube is blocked, so now we have our first fs appointment next Thursday to start the ivf process.

I understand your reservations about assisted conception. We never thought we would be having to do ivf to conceive. But I'm 34, almost 35 so I feel I'm running out of time, so we decided as soon as we got the hsg results that ivf was what we wanted to try before exploring other options.

Just make whatever decision you think is best for you and your dh. Good luck to you!

Thank you so much ladies. Sorry I posted this on Thursday and then didn't check back again until now.

Hubby has had a semen analysis and everything is good motility, count, morphology...all that fun stuff.

It's just my silly eggs that seem to be the issue.

I really appreciate the positive anecdotes about post HSG conception. It's super hard not to get my hopes up considering you aren't the first people to report getting pregnant the very month of the HSG. I will definitely use my OPKs and we'll BD as much as possible :)

Best of luck to you too, Blue!

Hey Girls,

I had an HSG done yesterday & both my tubes are blocked!
I am waiting to get an appointment with my RE to go over what's next.
I'm affriad of the resutls. I'm affraid if I can't get pregnant again :(

And yes, it hurt like a mofo!!!!!!!

May i be the bearer of good news ? After having talked to a bunch of people who had an HSG done, they all said it hurt, they all got pregnant naturally (when there were no other issues). My HSG did not hurt at all and i was told both tubes are blocked. I believe that mine did NOT hurt because both tubes are totally blocked and not partially, and that the HSG hurt you because you had a partial blockage that was cleared.

ALSO if the dye isn't pushed slowly enough you can have a tubal spasm where the result comes back as blocked but it isn't necessarily.

I can't back this up scientifically, but it seems like good news that it hurt :)

And Barbi, look into the procedure offered.

Hi Ariannda,

Thank you for trying to shine some good light my way.
They tried to get the dye through a few times & nada. It was extremely painful!
My tubes looked blocked....no dye came through. And it was inflamed so that's where the doc thought I had an infection which is what could have caused this blockage.

I love your optimism...I hope your right. I guess i have to wait to see my RE & see what he says.

What have you done to unblock your tubes?

Hi alwaysannie,

I was in your position a year ago and we decided to go with assistance. I was (am) impatient and too feel the pressure of age (35) and want to get the family started sooner rather than later. We started very mild, just with clomid, then progressed to clomid with IUI, and eventually gonal-f with IUI. No luck except an ectopic with the last cycle. I am going for another hsg next week to see if the ectopic side is ok.

My only advice to you is if you decide to go this route, make sure you and DH are on the same page about everything and keep the communication lines open. When people call it a roller coaster of emotions, it really is and having the support of your DH is vital. Infertility has been really rough on my marriage and we are now in counselling. I just started acupuncture to help with stress. So just remember to take time for your marriage and yourself because this can be a long ride.

Barbikins- I remember seeing you in other post a long time ago. Sorry to see you are still struggling and hope it all works out for you, hope it works out for all of us!!

Hi there, it is been a month after our hsg. I am just curious any success this month :). I will now about myself on 9th.

Hi we're on the next cycle after the hsg. Really good timing this month so fingers crossed! Af Due around the 16th. Good luck.
