I have been making feeds up when I need them, I had a little routine going where I put the sterliser on, put the kettle on, by the time sterliser is done, I will make up the bottle and whack it in a jug of cold water to cool down (at night i use ready made save peeing about with kettle) I have read that a lot of you make them up before hand. HV said to do them as and when I need as does the container but I am going back to work in 4 weeks so am thinking of pre making. Why do the rec doing it as and when needed if its safe to keep it in fridge? Also is it better to add formula as and when needed to pre boiled water stored in fridge or just make them all up and store it ready made.

ive seen people who do both hun, either or, its whatever u want to do i think, obv they recommend making them up as and when but a lot of people make them up in bulk in the morning

x

I make bottles up ready for the day, I store the bottles with just water in the fridge then when it comes to feed time i put the bottle in the warmer then add the formula xx

I make up in the morning for that day, then again at night time for through the night i add the formula when i make them and just store in the fridge :) XxX

i make some for the day int he morning when i get up then teatime some for the night and one for the morning and then put them in the microwave for 20 seconds and shake properly,

hv told me if your going to do make up bottles beforehand make sure the feed is made up with hot water to kill the bacteria in the powder as that where these new guidlines have come from,
if you put boiled water in the fridge and add the milk afterwards to cold water you'd have to heat the milk to at least 70 degrees to kill the bacteria that could be in the powder hence defeating the object and may as well do tham fresh and cool down.

another good way is making a flask of hot water and making up that way too.
xx

So its better to make up the bottles inc formula, put in fridge then heat when needed? I have a bottle warmer that takes 5 mins so no need for micro.

i make up the sterilised bottles every night with just boiled water and add formula and heat as needed, have always found this really easy, tbh i think its a personal preference x

thats what i do i told the hv i wasnt going to stand boiling kettles for half hour to cool down make a feed stand 5 mins at a cold tap till it was cooler, store in frindge ready made inc formula tat means you've killed the bacteria with the right temp water and then its cooled right down in the fridge when you warm it up by the time bacteria can generate babys has drank it if that makes sense, i just go with my hv as shes really good and she's a mum too so talks common sense lol.

i use bottle warmer at night next on my bedside table i take 2 bottle up with me and sandwich them between 2 freezer packs to keep cool and put them in a big container with a lid under the bed i reach over grab rhys switch warmer on reach for bottle lol i dont even put my feet on the ground to feed lol
do whats easiest for you i do
xx

people do it both ways really

we make enough bottles for 24 hours (formula added) and store in the fridge, reheating as needed

Thanks ladies. She has oral thrush atm so am scared to try cos of the bacteria, but you all do it so it must be OK. Do you think I should wait until thats cleared or shall I just go for it?

This is exactly what I was gonna say, I read it in the paperwork that I bought home from hospital, however I am doing what I did with my other 2 and have never had any problems, I make all bottles in the am (for that day and night), I use boiled water, sometimes slightly cooled down and then I leave all bottles out on the side and when I need one to feed Jayden I just get it and feed it to him at room temperature, also saves alot of hassle when out and about, Im sure professionals wouldnt agree with how I do it but I have never had any problems with my previous 2 children and my sister in law did it with her 2 children aswell but its each to their own, do it how u feel comfortable with
