Hello all IVF, FET, IUI, LTTTTC ladies!!!!

I thought it would be nice to have a thread for all of us who took the long road to getting here :) So, if you enjoyed having the awesome support from the girls on the TTC boards join us here and let's continue to support each other!

:happydance:First of all huge congrats on your :bfp:!!! :happydance:

Now share your symptoms, your pictures, your scans, your worries, your hopes! Let's get through this first trimester together! :hugs:

Mizuno

Hello ladies. We got luckily on our first iui. We were recommended for ivf with ICSI as dh had low morphology but we went against her recommendation and tried the iui, she even said to us that she'll let us try once but she didn't see any sense trying 3 times before ivf. But dh and I were bull headed and talked her into in and the rest is history. 8 +5 and counting. We didn't tell anyone we used fertility treatment tho so I find comfort coming on bnb and chatting with others who have gone through this too. Congratulations ladies!!!

I'm here too! Even tho I didn't post a lot on the other thread, Mizuno, I read every day because that thread was my lifeline while going through IVF in October.
Thank you so much for starting this thread!!!! :hugs:

DISNEYFAN WHERE AAARRREEEE YOU?!?! :haha:

Ladies I am still trying to conceive, but hopefully you don't mind if I pop in... I love to hear the positive updates from all the ladies that have helped me so far on my journey.

Heya! I'm moving over, too.

Hope everyone's doing well. Happy thursday!

Yey nice to see all you ladies from the other thread....thanks mizuno for creating this one!!!!!

I was lucky , I got my BFP on my 6th round of letrozole 4 days before my IVF appointment. we were TTC just over 2 years

Laurabe - that's terrific! I'm envious (but in a good way :winkwink:)

Disney - sorry I've been out of touch - honestly, second tri has been pretty boring for me! Did you see I'm having a GIRL!?!? I thought FOR SURE it was a boy!!

How is everyone feeling?

I also want to point out that there is an IVF success thread that many women post on after they have a successful IVF.. Please consider posting your success story there once you are comfortable with your pregnancy. I cannot tell you how many times I read that thread from beginning to end while struggling with my infertility/IVF battle - it was a lifesaver!!! :hugs:

Lucinda, Disney, Sunshine - Nice to see you here!
Laurabe, Sprite, Allika, Chickadeedee - welcome!
Katie - welcome! I hope we'll be able to help you along your journey!

So, I already have a question for you ladies that are a bit further along. My first u/s is scheduled for 8.5 weeks. It's like 3.5 weeks away! I thought it would be a lot sooner. I know my doc is away for a bit this month, so maybe that has something to do with it. When was your first u/s? And how did you cope with the wait? Is pregnancy just a 9-month long 2WW :)?

my first u/s was 8+3 and my next is 12+1 it feels like forever. I don't know about the rest but the first tri is a big bad 12ww lol

I had ET on 10/8... My positive beta was 10/17. My first ultrasound was 10/31... So they considered me 6 weeks.. They wanted to see how many embryos "stuck" and that they were in the right place. We saw a gestational sac and yolk sac but that's it... Cue the panic because Disney had an overachiever if I remember and they saw a heartbeat. My next ultrasound was one week later at 7 weeks where we saw a perfect heartbeat. I then graduated to my regular OB.
Honestly, I know the wait is HARD... But at 8.5 weeks you are going to see SO MUCH MORE than you would at 6 or 7... So you may save yourself from added stress. As for coping --- try to stay busy. Stay off Dr. Google. If you have questions ask us - chances are we've had the same question!!

Now I'm spoiled... Because of my "advanced maternal age" I had an ultrasound at 10 weeks, 13 weeks (for NT scan), 20 weeks (anatomy scan) and 22w4d because of some major pain I was having (turned out to be constipation and round ligament pain).
I am scheduled for another ultrasound next week at 24 weeks and then at 28 weeks. After that I start going every TWO weeks!!!!!! All just to monitor the growth.. Phew!!!

Sorry I went off on a tangent - to answer your question it is ALL hurry up and wait :dohh: both the longest AND shortest 9 months of your life :hugs:

Hey ladies I have one more week with the Specialist and then I graduate to a regular OBGYN.

At the Specialist I had an US every week from 5 1/2 weeks to 10 1/2 weeks. Then I had a private (gender scan) at my regular OBGYN at 16 weeks and the anatomy one at 21 weeks. Now I won't have a scan until week 34 to check growth :( I am dying to see her! What really helped me is the fetal heart Doppler. I was able to use it after week 11 and have used it since then whenever I was worried. Now that she moves I don't need it as much anymore but it is nice to have!

wow, they really took good care of you! I wish I could have a scan every day :) I still have to physically stop myself from taking a HPT every morning.

BTW, what's a fetal heart doppler? Do you have to go to a u/s lab for it or is it something you can do at home?

Chickadeedee - How wonderful! It's fun shopping for a little girl. Ours is so SPOILED already. :haha: Are you feeling a lot of movements? This little one is quite active whenever I crawl into bed. DH and I were laughing last night because we could see my belly "popping" when she was doing her soft kicks last night.

Thanks, mizuno! :hugs: Our first ultrasound with the RE was at 6 weeks and was followed by one at 8 weeks and then 10 weeks (well, 10+3 -- 10 weeks was the day after Thanksgiving). I was kept on all of my medications until 10 weeks. At my last appointment, I had blood drawn for the MaterniT21 test. I officially graduated to my OB after that appointment.

At the 6 week appointment, we saw the tiny speck that was our baby. We could see the gestational sack, and we saw and heard the heartbeat for the first time. By 8 weeks, we could see her squirming around during the ultrasound. Her shape was more baby-looking by the 10+3 ultrasound (again, she was "dancing" quite a bit).

My OB wanted to see me before the end of the first trimester, so I actually saw her at 10+3, too (I was off that day). That appointment was first, and I actually got 2 ultrasounds that day -- one from each doctor. My next (and last) ultrasound was at 19+3 for our anatomy scan. The ultrasound tech said that our little one needed her first official time out because she wouldn't stop moving. :haha:

I won't be getting any more ultrasounds unless a reason for one comes up. I've been seeing my OB every 4 weeks since the first appointment with her. I believe my visits change over to every 2 weeks when the third trimester starts, and the I go weekly starting at 36 weeks.

I don't know how it is for others, but for me, I look at various milestones and look forward to them. Seeing the baby for the first time and hearing the heartbeat, stopping my meds, starting the second trimester, the anatomy scan -- I've found it helpful to look forward to the little things as they feel like little victories once you get there. We tried for this first baby for two years. We went through 3 Clomid cycles, a Femara + IUI cycle, a failed IVF cycle, then another IVF/FET cycle to conceive our little miracle. Now if only her due date would hurry up and get here. :winkwink:

BTW, what's a fetal heart doppler? Do you have to go to a u/s lab for it or is it something you can do at home?

I have a fetal doppler at home, too (purchased online for about $50 or so). It's a handheld device that allows you to hear the baby's heartbeat once the baby reaches a certain point. I haven't used it as often as I thought I would, but I did use it a few times to check on the baby -- especially when we stopped getting to see her every other week. My OB checks the heart rate with a similar doppler at every appointment.

Agree with what Disney says. There are mixed views on Doppler usage at home due to dr saying some women will no longer be checking movement if they have the Doppler or that they might confuse blood flow for the heartbeat. In my case it's been very valuable. Since I had a missed miscarriage last year I was a nutcase already and this helps me greatly to stay calm. But to each it's own! :)
