Hi all

Looking for some help with dates this is my third pregnancy, first miscarried at 6 weeks, second found out it hadn't developed at 12 week scan this time pregnant straight after D&C, had a bleed so got an early scan thinking I was at least 7 weeks and the scan showed 5 weeks now waiting two weeks for my next scan. I dont think 5 weeks can be right due to date I took pregnancy test, what do you think?

Positive test on the 4th of October same on 5th( clear blue 2/3wks)
Sex on the 8th,15th and 29th of sept.
Operation on the 29th August.
Scan on 23Rd Oct (4 weeks)

Meant to say scan showed 4 weeks, which would mean I tested positive at 1 week!!

I wouldn't take too much notice of the 2-3 weeks bit as its not all that accurate really as hormone levels vary woman to woman. When wa your last period?

I didn't have one as had D&C on the 29th of August. I know this us why they say you should wait until you have a period before trying but I just wanted to get straight back on the wagon.I would think it could be ok but I just can't make the dates make sense, especially the rest as it would mean I was only a week at the time?

Ah I see, I wouldn't worry then as you could have ovulated any time, just go by what the scan says. Your right in that that's why they tell you to wait until a period so your dates are accurate but lots of people don't and it's ok, just go by the scan x

The scan date does seem off, if you got a positive test 19 days beforehand. Assuming you got an early positive at 10 days post ovulation, that would put your ovulation date around September 24 and two weeks before that would be September 10 for an LMP which is where the ultrasounds date gestational age in weeks from. When the scan says 4 weeks, it means an ovulation date of two weeks prior, and it certainly sounds like you ovulated sooner. I hesitated to write this cause I didn't want to say anything discouraging. Can you get some serial HCG levels and a progesterone level and perhaps ask them to scan you again sooner than two weeks?

Thank you for your comments, driving myself mad with the wait but only a few more days until our scan and then we will know for sure. I am pretty sure this will be MC number three as I have to be realistic and the dates just don't work. it is starting to feel like we will never get a healthy pregnancy , will let you know how I get on at the scan on Tuesday.

Firstly congratulations, so pleased for you, secondly I know exactly how you feel, I have had two losses since June and I'm terrified of another, my last loss was 28th Sep and I'm waiting to see if I'm pregnant or not which is hard for me as my tests never turned negative so I have no idea if I'm pregnant or not, I wish you loads luck for Tuesday, hope everything goes well xxxxxxx

Just got back from the scan and its bad news, another missed miscarriage so that takes us up to the dreaded three. Apart from facing the decisions about this one, to D&C again or not, what happens next? Is there still any chance of a normal pregnancy or does this mean there its definitely something wrong??

I'm so very sorry, I really am, from everything I've read and also what I was told at the hospital there is still every chance of a healthy pregnancy even after 3, 4, 5 losses etc. My midwife told me that she has seen people on their 5th or 6th try and being successful, what it does mean she told me was that after 3 losses investigations would be made as to the most common causes of mc. The reason for waiting until 3 losses I was told was it is not uncommen to have 2 losses but when it gets to three they just like to make sure nothing is causing them. Did the hospital give you any advice on this loss? As I was 11 week's but only got to 5 developmently this last loss I was advised to mc naturally as was safer for me. Once again I'm so sorry but try not to loose faith. Xxxxxx

I've had three losses and all my tests have come back normal. This pregnancy is so far so good so it's probably just been bad luck. I really hope you get some answers xx

Aww Hunnie I'm so sorry to hear your sad news :hugs:

I fell pregnant straight after a d&c with no period between, i honestly believe it was too soon, so I was determined to miscarry naturally and do it myself... I did and I fell pregnant within 5 weeks without a period with this pregnancy.. So far everything is good..

I've got 2 sons and I've miscarried 3 times after my boys and now pregnant again... I did question a lot like why! I never got any answer other than, it just wasn't meant to be, which is just crap :(

So sorry for your losses girlinyork and babee_bugs, but thank you for sharing as it really gives me hope that I can get my rainbow baby. Xxxxx

I did, after one loss but I'm 41 nearly, I think most women after two would as would want to be reassured with an early scan, I had mine at 7 weeks, congratulations and good luck! Xxxx

I asked for an early scan and the said that it was not needed .. How can i get one as i really want too be reasurred ? Thanks x

Are you in the UK or elsewhere? I actually had an early scan at 7 weeks after a particularly horrendous mc at 12 weeks which required d & c and 2 blood transfusions as I lost so much blood. It was my first mc. It was the consultant that did my op that told me if I fall again ask my doctor for a referral for an early scan. When I fell again after one AF I did just that, my doctor was reluctant to refer me as I was about 5 weeks at the time but I stood my ground and insisted as I was told by a senior consultant. She reluctantly gave me a form which I took to the EPAU at my local hospital and received an app for when I was 7 weeks. Sadly I mc again. I have also read that some EPAU's take self referrals after 7 weeks but I'm not sure on that one. I think that's awful they said it wasnt needed as obviously it is needed for anyone having suffered a mc and finds themselves pregnant again. Did you ask your doctor or the hospital? Xx

Im in the UK.. It was my doctor that i asked, i had a terrible first miscarriage too at 12 which needed a D&C and i also lost alot of blood but the hospital was useless and sent me straight home afyer it and didnt offer any aftercare or anything.. After my second miscarriage the staff was just as bad, they said that as it was so early (6+2) that it wasnt even a baby and it couldnt feel anything anyway! I was strongly advised to complain however i didnt take it further as i had just lost my baby. Xx

I had both early scans privately as Dr refused to refer me even after first private scan advised a follow up scan they wouldn't do it so had to go private again. It was 60 pounds per scan and although a didn't get a happy outcome I just wanted to know what was going on. I think there are lots of private clinics around but it does get expensive.
