Hello, I just found out yesterday that I am 4wks 2dys pregnant...surprise! We weren't trying, but there was one night that we didn't use anything after a few vodka drinks ; ) and it was in the beginning of ovulation according to my calander. I have a 15yr old, and a 11yr old boy from my first marriage. My DH is happy as this is his first if all goes well : ).

I have had High blood pressure since I was in my early twenty and have been on Atenolol for years. I was on something the whole time with #1 at 21 years old, and nothing with #2 but my BP got high with him at end.
I freaked out yesterday when I found out I was pregnant, and went to my doctor because I was taking Doxycycline & Atenolol. I've stopped Dox, and I am being weaned off Atenolol the next two days, and starting Methyldopa. I'm just nervous and scared about all the risks with my age and my high BP. I am just going to do my best to stay calm and eat healthy and cut out junk and caffeine. Anyone one else just find out they are pregnant and scared to death : P ? I would like to find some pregnancy buddies or others going through this with pre existing health conditions...thanks and have a great Wednesday!

Me Me Me :hi:

This is my 3rd as well... I'm 37 and remarried too.. I have 2 kids from previous marriage and they are 18 and 12 ... and this is also my hubby's 1st baby.

I'm scared to death and have anxiety... just going nuts. I had gestational diabetes with my daughter. At my 10wk appt my OB had be make an appt with a specialist for diabetes and had my 1st appt already. Everything looks good so far and I am at greater risk to develop gestational diabetes later in pregnancy.

I hope all goes well for all of us... and I just want a healthy baby.

Hi there, I'm 36 and also had preexisting high blood pressure before I got pregnant. This is my first baby though. I'm 24 weeks now, and so far so good. They are worried that I am at a higher risk for pre-eclampsia but thankfully no signs. I was on Benicar before I got pregnant and then was switched to Labatelol.

As I have terrible White Coat Syndrome, in the beginning my blood pressures were always a little on the high side when I would go to the doctors. But I have a cuff at home and I always monitor it myself and keep a log. I also show them the log so they can see that I'm normal at home.

Around 16-18 weeks my high risk doctor told me to start taking baby aspirin once a day. Since I started doing that, my blood pressures are now normal when I go to the doctors and I'm at like 96/68 at home. For me, that is really low and sometimes I feel a little light headed but I'm told my body will adjust.

I also have Hypothyroidism and PCOS ... so I have a nice little trifecta of issues. I also developed gestational diabetes...whooo hoo... but you know, I just roll with it and everything is going well.

So, I basically have to avoid sugar, carbs, salt and caffeine ... LOL. It sucks but the baby is doing great and like I said I just go with the flow and don't worry about things I can't control. I was freaked out in the beginning and worried about everything but now that I see things are working and I'm managing my conditions... I can deal with it. :)

As long as your blood pressure is controlled you should be fine. There are also other things they can do later on if it starts to creep up a little (IE: adding the aspirin).

Congrats!!

Thanks for replying!! I am 7wks 2 days now, and feeling nauseated and tired, but I expected as much since I was so sick with my first two. I have a ultrasound next week December 5 Friday, nervous and excited! I am trying to take it easy and not freak about everything, so far so good. My blood pressure has been good with the hew med so far so all I can do is take it a day at a time. I hope I don't get Gestational diabetes...I didn't before but that was 11 years ago : ) I think this time around I've read to much online and know everything that can go wrong, darn internet! I declined the genetic testing, I'm hoping for a healthy pregnancy and delivery. My husband is excited and it's fun to share the experience with him for the first time : ) hope u r well!

Hello and thank you for replying! That's great that your 26ks already : ) I can't wait for that time when I can feel the baby kicking!
My doctor put me on Methyldopa 3 times a day, so far my blood pressure is around 125/80 which is fine if it stays around there. I'm trying to eat healthy and staying away from caffine, just taking it a day at a time. First ultrasound next week so hoping all goes well : )
Hope you have a healthy pregnancy sounds like you are handling it well and have the right attitude.
