I've probably ha lupus since I was 14 but wasn't officially diagnosed until last year . I've had one baby already born at 36 weeks .

The OB is saying there is a very high likelyhood this baby will be premature As well and that he's at risk for being small

Anyone know experience this? I'm Hopi g to make it further along with this baby and would like him to be full term

well I have antiphospholipid antibodies (which they also call lupus syndrome, same side effects) so my blood is thick and clots easily. Also I have high blood pressure. One or both of these things caused my first son to be a micropreemie.

I didn`t know about either of those conditions at the time. this second time round we`re prepared - daily heparin shots and baby aspirin. Lots 40 lbs of weight (which helped my blood pressure more than any medication had so far) and eating super healthy.

Good news is, this can be treated and monitored!

I know this thread is old, but I'm wondering how your pregnancy has been in regards to lupus pain. Mine has really ramped up over the past week and now I'm hobbling around. I hope it will settle down over the next few weeks, but I'm worried that it's just going to stay this bad. I haven't had pain like this in ages! :(

I had a flare up I'm July . It was brutal since I couldn't take the normal pain killers I take and Advil wasn't cutting it .

I had sore muscles and my joints swelled so bad I couldn't even lift my vaccuum. Thanks goodness it calmed down with a dose of steroids .

I go for regular growth scan now to make sure he's growing right and that he's getting proper blood flow .

My rheum says I can't take advil! :( I actually broke down and took one 2 days ago because I couldn't cut up veg for dinner. It doesn't do much, but does take the edge off. So glad everything looks good with your LO though. I am so worried since I was only diagnosed after my last baby so I have no idea what to expect during pregnancy.

My mum has lupus and she had to be induced with me because she went overdue, so it's not always the case that the baby will be premie. Good luck ladies.

I'm allowed to alternate Tylenol and Advil. It was either that or she was goin to put me on Tylenol 3 but they make me to loopy to care for my other child so it isn't an option.

Right now I'm 34 weeks and 50% efface and 2cm dialated so I don't think baby is gunna make it to term :(

just wanted to add the heparin, bp medication and aspirin seem to be doing the trick - I'm 28 weeks now, had an ultrasound today and all blood circulation is normal, and baby`s weight of 2lb10oz is right on track! That`s double the weight of my firstborn at same gestation! How nuts is that  goes to show how little bloodflow he was receiving, poor thing. My 1lb miracle is now a bright, happy 3 year old :cloud9:

Wow he's 3 already!!! I remember when him from the preemie board. It's unbelievable that your LO is double his birthweight - I can't even fathom that. Your little boy is such a miracle :cloud9: I'm also on baby aspirin so I hope it's doing something good.

I hope baby is still cooking! :hugs: Luckily 34 weeks is a good gestation to get to. Lots of hugs and hope you're doing well xoxox

Still cooking. I'm hoping I make it past thanksgiving next weekend which would put me past 36 weeks ( the 12th) . But even if I can hold out till Saturday I'll be happy because at 35 weeks he wouldn't have a mandatory nicu stay.

So glad to hear it! I hope he stays cooking for as long as possible! xoxo
