Hi

So it is about 5 weeks til we start our first ICSI and I am (lamely!) trying to get myself a) fitter and b) more chilled out before it starts.

Just wondering whether you all did anything in particular in the run up to your treatment.

Thanks,
Kath x

i would also like to know this as we are going to our first ivf appt next week!x

Hi Mrs G

I just read the post and didnt want to run. I didnt really do anything different. I did go to wales a few times before i started. We went hiking and spent quality time with DH. Its something we love to do and it brings me peace, other than that. Thats about it. I did do extra sessions at the gym knowing i would put on some weight. How right I was!

Good luck

Good luck with your up and coming IVF

I did no prep for my 1st round of IVF, and didnt do very well! Whilst waiting to try again I made a few changes, and it was worth it...got my BFP today!
The main thing was to change my diet that started off with a 10day detox. I gave up tea/coffee/fizzy drinks and wine etc and only drank bottled water (3ltrs a day). NO sugars, chocolate, salt, red meat ( didnt eat it b4)but lots of good protein 60g a day, the protein can come from nuts seads pulses as well as fish, chicken and eggs. I stayed away from bread and only ate wholegrain wheat crackers ( I hardly bloated during stumulation this time)..... I could go on and on!! I've mentioned most of this on the May ivf thread and in my journal too. I basicly used Zita West 'Fertility and conception' book like a bible, I did almost everything she said in the book.... its hard some timed but it worked!

Did an hour on the wii fit every night until it started hurting, cut out caffeine, lessened the Eating of Shite and made OH cut down on the alcohol. That's it, really

Hi Mrs G (I'm a Mrs G aswell haha!)

I made sure I got exercise every day by walking the dog, cut out alcohol and coffee completely and tried to get in lots of fruit and veg every day (easier said than done).
I also tried to chill out - which wasn't easy - but I found that walking the dog on my own helped with this as when I was walking, I put the world to rights and when I came back was much calmer!

Wishing you lots of luck

Hi Mrs. G

The biggest change I made before IVF was acupuncture. I'm certain it helped me. I went once a week during down reg, then twice a week while stimming. Had a session before retrieval, before transfer and after transfer. I 've been going once a week since transfer.

I LOVE it.

Before starting ttc to begins (a while back now) I cut out caffine, no alcohol, and made sure I got some exercise every day. Once I started stimming I couldn't run anymore, but I walked, and walked and walked. It just helps clear your head.

OH - and before my down reg started (and in the middle of started) I went on vacation. Not sure if that helped or not since I got sick while I was there - but it was great to get my mind off of the impeding ivf.

Good luck!

Thanks for all you replies girls. I've been reading the Zita West book and she makes the whole thing sound a bit daunting. She talks about no exercise during treatment and basically bed rest during stimming and after ec.....

I will go crazy is this is the case but don't want to do anything to jeopardise it.

Kath
