We are going away on Sunday, over night, and will be out and about the majority of the time.

I cant decide how best to prepare Chloes bottles. I usually make up 3 or 4 at a time with boiling water and leave them on the side in the kitchen until she wants one, I'm worried that if I do that with the travelling and being out and having the bottles in the bag all day they are going to get too warm and go off.

I thought about a dispenser and taking bottles of cooled water but I find the formula doesnt dissolve properly unless the water is hot.

I could use cartons but then what do I do with whats left in the carton??

It's so complicated!

What would you guys do, or what have you done when being out for a long period of time?

I use cool boiled water and take formula with me. It does dissolve you just have to give it a bit of a shake. Also if you use the cartons you can put whats left in the fridge and keep it for 24hours but obviously you can't do that when travelling so just discard what you don't use

How much is Chloe taking at a time?? A carton is 8oz, so if she's having only 3-4 oz at a time, that might be a bit wasteful if you haven't got a fridge to hand to keep the carton in once you've opened it.

If she is only having 3oz or so, maybe consider getting some of those little ready-made bottles like they have in the hospitals? I know you can buy the Cow & Gate ones in ASDA, but I'm pretty sure there are SMA Gold ones available now too! The beauty of these bottles is then at least you haven't got to worry about keeping a load of normal bottles sterilised either!!

She takes various amounts at different times so I dont think the cartons are a options, but I will look for those bottles, thanks

I've just had a look on Tesco & ASDA online, and a pack of 12 bottles (100ml, Cow & Gate aswell as SMA Gold) is £14.80... so not cheap... but may end up being easier in the long run??

On the bottle front....you can buy some pre-sterilised, disposable bottles called Steri-Bottles (I think) from Boots etc

I dont know if I had a dodgy batch, but I bought some the other day and all 8 leaked everywhere.

xxx

Oops, never used them myself....oh yeah I did. 6 years ago I used one but that was a freebie:rofl:

My son wouldn't take steribottles either.

I dont use the liquid cans of milk i use powder ..so i have my lil formula dispenser and take about enough to make 5 bottles ..this way all i need is water ..

I am breastfeeding and supplementing with bottles. I sucked it up and bought liquid for travelling. I take a can of concentrate and divide it into the bottles first and put them in a cooler or whatever until I need them. When I need one I add hot water to it then, that way it isn't cold. Most gas stations/convenience stores won't begrudge you enough hot water to make a bottle. I have done it with powdered as well if I was going to be gone longer than the concentrate bottles will stay cool.

I'm thinking of making the bottles up in the morning like I do at home and putting them in a little cool bag until I need them. I made bottles yesterday by adding powder to cooled water and ended up with big lumps of powder that clogged the teats.

WHY CAN'T IT BE EASY
