I know its bit early for me to start looking into IVF but i just have a few questions..

There is a scheme they do for egg sharing in a private clinic near me for IVF where the costs are like £1000 all in if u share your eggs.. certain things need to be met to get this i.e. age, health etc..

However.. if you decided to have this done and you pay yourself would it affect your NHS funding if the procedure didnt work and you wanted NHS funding for future IVF or other treatment??

Not sure how it all works? I was just thinking to be honest i would in the future give it a go if i needed to but at same time dont want to be told if i pay this i can not have IVF funding for some reason..

I mean by the time i go back back for my HSG scan, i have been ttc for around 20months and not getting anywhere!! I know i have pcos but sometimes feel by the time you wait on NHS you might as well give this a thought..

xx

did not want to just read and run, dont have any experience with this but have pcos and can relate to the frustration.. why not try phoning the clinic I bet they can tell you if it would have any affect on future NHS treatment...

Hi

You need to ring your local PCT and enquire. In some areas if you have paid for a private cycle this can affect your right to NHS treatment. This is not the case in all areas though, but I would find out first.

Good luck!

In my PCT, we can have 3 private cycles and still qualify for our NHS one. If we have more than 3, we forfeit our NHS cycle. It might be different in your area though, so I'd check it out first.

Hi hun
My PCT (West Hertfordshire) gives three goes on the NHS - however if you have had private treatment they can take these off your three - ie if you have one private treatment they will only give you two. I think you can write to the PCT to make your case - but basically the PCT give three goes because they believe that you should get pregnant form three - so i suppose they dont see any point in giving you three goes for free if you have already had three goes that didnt work privately?

So it looks like each PCT is different hun so I would definitely look up on your PCT's website or give them a call.
