Next year me and OH are going to start private renting a house so we can all live together as a family. He works and doesn't claim any benefits but I get child tax credits and don't work yet.

When a place says "No DSS" does that mean we can't apply because I am on child tax credits? or is it just housing benefit/income support that covers?

So confused!

When it says no DSS it means no housing benefits- you would have to prove that your OHs wage could cover the full rent x

Yup DSS means housing benefits, so if your OH can pay your rent your fine! X

ah that's great, thanks ladies, OH will be paying the whole rent so looks like we'll be good to go!

Yep means housing benefit, the rest of your money and CTC does not matter xx

You'll be fine so long as your income is 3 times the rent, that how they work out if you can afford the rent, your tax credits may change though because of your oh's income.
