I have decided to book an early private scan, which will be on Wed 28th July.
My local EPU will not scan me unless im having problems - fair enough!

Im quite excited to know that there is definately something in there, but at the same time the worry is there... i had a MMC in April, so the thought of having another Ultrasound is scary!!

I reckon i will be 9w + 1day, so my baby should be visible eh?????????

Should def be visable with a beautiful little hb - it'll be lovely to see you little baby and so reassuring :).

I think once you have a mc - particularly if you discover at a scan there is a lot of worry going in to the scan - worrying pretty much all round anyway but it builds up before the scan.

I am suprised after a MMC you are not offered an early scan we were told when we lost ours to phone the hospital ward directly at about 6 weeks and they would see us at about 7 and a half just to make sure everything is okay

I had an MMC last time too and would have DEF paid for a private scan if i hadn't been offered one on our insurance. I do have to say that sitting in that waiting room is sheer hell and i think the receptionist could probably hear my heart beating!

But, the relief and absolute joy at seeing the tiny heartbeat flickering away on the screen (especially after the trauma of an MMC) is just unreal. Enjoy, hun!

Keep us posted!!

oops, meant to say i had one at 6 wk 3d and 7wk 4d (i think!) and the heartbeat was TOTALLY visible and audible too. I think the sound was more exciting than the sight of it.

ooooh do you guys think i should call my epu and try and get an early scan then??? ie try my luck??

I think it depends on the EPU or your GP as to whether they'll scan you without experiencing adverse symptoms - though personally I think all MMC mummies should be given a reassurance scan at 7-8 weeks.

If you go private at 9 weeks you may even see arms and legs waving :D

Definitely visible (and totally amazing!). I had a scan at 9 weeks, and our little munchkin was wiggling all over the place. A private scan will be amazing, I would have loved some more time to look at him (we just got a quick peek at the end) Enjoy!

private scan booked for 9wks and 1d, so heres hoping !!!!!!!

I am thinking that I will book a private scan for around the 9 week mark. I would like one a little earlier but I'm thinking it probably won't be a good idea to have one then as we have some important events around that time (friends weding at which I am bridesmaid) and if it is bad news it may affect them.

I wouldn't want to have the scan a few days before possibly get bad news and then have to put on a fake smile all day at a wedding for photos etc.

Shazza , i think i would do the same.... plus how depressed would you be and have to smile all day lond etc....

if you'v no reason to get an early scan - then assume everything is still 100% perfect...

Private scan is only £100

Hi,

I've had 2 mmc one after the other, and went to the doctor who said I probably wouldnt' be offered an early scan. He gave me a number to call for one of the hospitals near by, phoned them and they said they wouldnt' scan me. So I rang another hospital with an EPU near by and they said they would... strange different policies for different hospitals....

Good luck with your scan, I'm having one on the same day x
